Now That You Are Here: A Tale Of Deception And Betrayal (episode 3) by Abisoyee(m): 9:45am On Oct 15, 2014
[Excerpt from Episode 2: Just then, the phone shrilled and she opened her eyes inquiringly, it was Gbade’s phone and she wondered who could be calling by 11:30 at night. He gave her a quick kiss on the lips as he rolled away from her and picked up his phone. Mumbling incoherently she leaned over his shoulders to nib at his ears playfully but paused as she saw the caller id. Mirabel!]

He stared at her sheepishly as she fixed him with an icy look, she folded her arms under her naked breasts and he nodded apologetically as he answered the phone. The effrontery of Gbade! Fuming silently she stood up from the bed and snatched her bra that had been discarded in the heat of passion from the floor. She stalked out of the room with all the anger clear in her body and slammed the door behind her for emphasis. He was cheating and he was rubbing it to her face. That was adding insult to the injury and she wasn’t so sure she could take that. She was a beautiful woman that guys found attractive, she could easily have any man she wanted yet here she was feeling blue over a guy putting her in a love triangle. She headed straight to the liquor cabinet; she poured herself a glass of vodka and downed it in one gulp squeezing her eyes shut. She poured another glass and with the bottle in hand, she went straight into the living room. She wasn’t trying to get drunk but she knew Gbade didn’t like her drinking, well screw him she thought wryly.

She was done pleasing him and from now on things were going to be about pleasing herself. To imagine she had turned done good prospects these past two years just for this snipe was beyond her and she felt like screaming out. Where had she gone wrong? Having had a bad history with her men, she had thought she had it right with Gbade. She stood up from the couch and paced the length on the room back and forth. She was on her fourth glass when he finally came in, “Baby I am sorry about the interruption, can we go back to bed?” She stared daggers at him and hissed to dissipate the angry retort that was forming on her lips. She had to be careful; her tongue was venom so she had to watch what she said in the heat of anger. Dripping with a sweetness se was far from, she answered sarcastically “Oh really, is the other woman done with you now? Don’t you be in a rush little sweetheart, tell her she can have more of your time. Damilola isn’t in a rush to have you back.” a frown formed on his handsome features and he asked “Have you been drinking again Dammy, you know I don’t like it when you do. Please go brush your teeth and let’s get back into bed.”

“Screw you!” she replied with a huff and threw the content of her glass at his face. She watched the surprise register on his face and without a backward glance, she pushed past him and went into the bedroom locking the door behind her. Let him sleep on the couch for the night for all she cared.

The situation didn’t get any better over the next few days. Mirabel’s calls became more frequent and he wouldn’t stop talking to her despite all of Damilola’s pleas for him to respect her presence and stop his affair with the other woman at least until he was gone back to her. Gbade would calmly reassure her then that there was nothing between him and Mirabel as he had explained to her that Damilola was his fiancée. They had had no previous talks of marriage so when he mentioned the word fiancée, her hopes went skyrocketing. Maybe their relationship still had hopes after all? Wasn’t it a natural man’s thing for a man to cheat? Maybe she hadn’t been woman enough for him. She made enough excuses in her head to cover up for his infidelity and that night she decided to shock him by making his special delicacy while he was busy working on his laptop for a special client. She was pleased when she saw his delighted surprise and he kissed her so hard and long she was left breathless. It was like the days of old when their love story had first begun and so happy was she, she could hardly take a bite of her own food. She stared dreamily at him as he ate and when he was done, she cleared his plates without being told, playing the housewife duty. As she washed the plates in the kitchen, Gbade came behind her and wrapping his arms around her from behind nibbled on her ear. Giggling girlishly she said: “Stop it Gbade you can see I am working. You are going to get soap all over yourself.” He laughed that his laugh that sounded like water rippling from a fountain and answered. “That won’t be such a bad idea now would it?” Turning her to face him, he kissed her fully on the lips and untied her apron as he led her away from the sink. Clothes came off and trailed them to the living room, they never made it to the bedroom as turning her against the couch; he took her right there and then. Damilola urged him on as he pounded into her with all the fury of a man in heat and as he branded her with his seed before collapsing against her, she held him to her and cried silently. Kissing her tears away softly, he whispered “I am here now Damilola, we are going to be fine! I love you.” In a shaky voice, she whispered “I love you too.”
