Oh and I love Chimamanda by the way. Read Purple Hibiscus and fell for her voice . It's more like loving the sound of her writing voice though....very human.

I guess I'm not weird after all. grin I ascribe voices to characters in books and even tunes to songs I don't know. cheesy
Its very hard to not like Chimamanda. She's a gifted writer. Pity it seems she's all for the money now.

Which of her books do you like best?

Not our Uj ...
The love of money is the root of all evil cheesy
Achebe was more exposed as to happenings during the war, the part the whites played and not forgetting that he had a more solid foundation in the core traditions of his people.
It would be a miracle if such a person sold out unless we are talking The Gates fortune.

It is until you are really tempted you know what u r capable of

It's hard to pick a favorite. I think Americanah does it for me. I like purple hibiscus too, just that it's too sad. Half of a yellow sun is a good book too only that there are so many books out there talking about the 'war'. Americanah felt like her own story-a lot more relatable .

I love Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun.

I enjoyed reading Americanah but I was a bit disappointed too. I wouldn't consider Americanah her best one and not a literary masterpiece either. It is a very nice novel though.

Have you got her collection of short stories A Thing Around Your Neck? I loved this book, too.

I cannot wait for her next book to be released. I hope she is writing one.

Not weird at all. Every writer has a voice, it just takes a while to find it.
As for ascribing voices to characters...lol how else are we supposed to humanize them of we don't give them real voices in our head? cheesy
I even have a voice for you tongue

@emboldened. True.

I'm still the girl placing one half of her heart in a blog and the other in a diary though. We'll cross the tempting bridge when we get there smiley

A lot of people say the same thing too. I agree, Americanah isn't her best work so far. The plot and theme is what draws me in.
No I don't. I avoid short stories like a plague o. I don't know why. I trust it'll be good too.

Your last line: There is a line already. Do well to hold your spot cheesy

Short stories can be good
Allows u to thread stories around a theme of yours

I have one by Stephen King

Night Shift...awesome

Ah see not weird at all.

You should try reading short stories though. Chimamanda's The Thing Around Your Neck is so good. A friend got me that to encourage me to try my hand at short stories. Not a bad investment grin
