Akpeyi was already going to go with or without the flop. The hints were already there. He was not going to leave Akpeyi. The Daniel flop just gave Coach Siasia an excuse to see if he can push Akpeyi into the number one position. We debated it before the Suwon tourney.

Honestly, I would agree with you on Daniel Emmanuel. I do not see much difference between the 2 keepers; and would have loved to see Emmanuel between the poles at the Olympic.

I reckon only 15 out fields players are Brazil bound. Suffice to state that he can't invite everybody. A comprehensive listing of all the names being hawked around here is well over 15. Invariably, some good players like Isaac Success are bound to miss out.

I also guess his kneel-jerking decision to bring in an experienced keeper was as a result of Emmanuel's flop against the Danes. The truth really is, Siasia has never had much use for overage players. He went to Beijing Olympics with just 2 overage players and one of them consistently sat on the bench. And guess what, he would have won Gold if not for the mercurial Messi.

Let's give him a chance and if he flopped, that may as well be the nail on the coffin of his coaching career with the national teams

We should not excuse incompetence because we went far in the Olympics in the past to forget that with a better strike force upfront, we would have come home with the medal. I think that has led Coach Siasia lose out of becoming a respected Coach.

Just like his pant of a Goal Keeper Vanzekin. As soon as Di Maria was through on goal in 2008, we knew it was over. Just like he benched Ajiboye and played Okafor who was not close to Ajiboye in talent.

Why go with Two overage players and keep them on the bench when he could have brought Martins Obafemi and added real fire power. Coach Siasia will not carry Martins because of his love child Isaac Promise. He will bench a deadlier Osaze for his love child Isaac Promise who was wack as Thrash. Then Coach Siasia gave the wack player the starting position, Captain band and ten shirt. Horrible.

The result covered his incompetence, especially the memorable Nsofor performances.

Even in 2005, Mikel was the leader and pivot of that Nigerian team. All eyes were on Mikel. Coach Siasia unfairly gave Isaac Promise the ten shirt and Captain band. Just to promote his wack player. Dropped Ezekiel Bala who was better.

<<<Where is my Plank. Sometimes it takes a real Kpracking on the head to reset Siasia's thinking >>>

AF Nigeria Premier League 2015/2016 Hull City
AF EXCLUSIVE: Hull City lead race for Nigeria's Aminu

by Samm Audu

Promoted Premier League club Hull City have sensationally jumped to the head of the queue for the signature of Nigeria forward Umar Aminu, AfricanFootball.com can exclusively reveal today.

“Hull City are now leading the chase for Aminu,” revealed a source close to the former Wikki Tourists star.

“They have a better chance than the other teams who want to sign him.”

However, transfer experts have raised concerns that Aminu may not get a work permit to play in the EPL as he has not played the required 75% of the full international team in the last two years.

He only made his Eagles debut in March against Egypt in Alexandria.

But another school of thought argued that his three-year sojourn in Turkey could enhance his chances of being granted a work permit.

Turkish champions Besiktas have already had an initial offer for the Osmanlispor star rejected.

According to owngoalnigeria.com, Nigeria's new coach is Goran Stefanovic... Will be announced soon.

Profile:

The 49 year old who started coaching in 2001 has handled teams in Serbia, China and Greece and as at last year was the head coach of Greek side Agrotikos Asteras FC .

At National team level he served as assistant manager for three years with the senior national team of Serbia and Montenegro before handling the Black Stars of Ghana for just over a year.

He was sacked after the 2012 Nations cup after Ghana were stopped from reaching the final of the tournament by eventual winners Zambia before losing in the losers final to Mali, forcing the coach to accuse his players of using black magic against each other in his technical report after the tournament.

I hope they provide the right environment for him to work.

[b]SIASIA: 'WE MIGHT AS WELL TAKE FLYING EAGLES TO OLYMPICS'

A hugely disappointed Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia has suggested the country may be better represented at the Rio Olympics by the U20s, the Flying Eagles.

The Flying Eagles beat the Olympic team 4-3 in a friendly at the weekend to make it a second win over their senior counterparts.

In the first friendly, the U20s won 2-1.

“We might as well take the Flying Eagles to the Olympics,” lamented a dejected Siasia, who had personally pushed for a rematch so that he could avenge the first loss to the Flying Eagles.

“We have been training and teaching them what to do, but we could not do the simple things tactically.”

He openly admitted his defence is in shambles following the long-term injury of Segun Oduduwa.

“We need help in defence, we have a lot of problems there. Hopefully (Wilfred) Ndidi will be released by his club and he will join us (in USA training camp).”

He said he will push for another test game today before the squad start departing the country on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This man wants to deploy Ndidi in defense. Ndidi has not played in defense for at least a year. He is showing a growing ability to join the attack from defensive midfield. He is improving as a defensive midfielder. Why are you taking him back to defense?

Siasia is a very funny man. So the defence was not in shambles when Segun Oduduwa was fit? Didn't I tell you that some players are sure bankers for Rio irregardless of performance?

Why are You just realising? Lol

I did mention it a couple of times on this thread that Ndidi will make the team as a CB not a DMF.

I knew that was Siasia's plan all along even before Oduduwa got injured. Siasia was probably considering An Ndidi and Oduduwa partnership or whatever...

Besides, There's no way Siasia will play Ndidi in the DMF role ahead of Azubuike Okechukwu (Siasia's captain and key "boy"wink.

Okechukwu is Siasia's "Head Boy/Prefect" of this school/class of U-23 players who fall under the tag, "Siasia's boys".....

I always knew he would not deploy Ndidi in midfield. Maybe if an injury comes up during The Rio games at any point and Okechukwu is affected (Hey!! I do not wish this..... just stating probable scenarios), Ndidi may step in.... but then I wonder where Siasia plans to use Mikel if he is released...
with Okechukwu as the dmf, (unless Mikel and Okechukwu switch positions) Mikel could probably play the CMF or advanced AMF role (na AMF Siasia take know Mikel but uhmm.... Make we dey watch shaa).

lol! so the defence was perfect when super man was not injured. #bringbackourOduduwa.
maybe Oduduwa should go to Olympic with POP on his leg since his absence is the reason why the defence is in shambles #bringbackourOduduwa

he should know that if the U20 team will be representing us in Rio instead of the toothless U23, we will begin by kicking out the incompetent coach that assembled this pack of losers.

If you want to take Amuneke's boys after he has built them from scratch, best believe Amuneke will be in Rio as the coach of HIS team...

for the love of God! Don't tell me we plan to win the likes of Algeria with a paler version of Oliseh.

Dem use mediocrity jazz this Pinnick? This coach doesn't even have an intimidating profile, a perennial loser unable to keep a job. He couldn't even win with a lethal Ghanaian team, how much more the bits and pieces we have as a team?

The least he could have done was find Renard. We're better off with Yusuf if this is the albino slated to replace him

Nff officials, board, committee members & coaches are nothing but scouts & agents chasing naira & hard currencies. While we nigerians are getting high blood pressure over the team, they rakes in millions with thier boys slot. They are not interested in super talents we know playing abroad, but more in their own scouted talents getting abroad & bringing in the cash flow. So guys, make una watch una BP over our national teams oooo! A word of advice.

Exclusive : Mikel Ruled Out Of Olympics As Porto Order Midfielder To Leave Nigeria Camp

Mikel Agu has been ruled out of the 2016 Olympic Games despite making Nigeria’s provisional roster, with Porto higher-ups ordering the midfielder to return to Portugal with immediate effect.

It has come to light that the Primeira Liga powerhouse never wanted to release Mikel to the Nigeria Football Federation, but his intermediary finally had his way when he claimed that his client has been included in the list of 18 players for the competition in Brazil.

“Mikel will not travel with the Nigeria U23s to the United States and it is safe to say he is out of the Olympic Games. Porto asked him to return to Portugal immediately for pre-season, ” a top source told
allnigeriasoccer.com.

“His agent deceived Porto that he was included in the final 18-man list, that he is not coming to Nigeria for trials.

“The new coach (Nuno Espirito Santo) says he wants him in pre-season. He will leave Abuja as from today.”

Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia had earlier informed this website that Mikel will not train with the squad in the United States, so there were raised eyebrows when his name was included in the provisional roster.

Rep Reveals It Is Not Healthy For Man City Striker Iheanacho To Play At Olympics

A representative of Kelechi Iheanacho has confirmed that the Manchester City talent is a huge doubt to play for Nigeria at the Olympic Games even though he has been named to their 35-man provisional roster.

The 19-year-old striker is in Owerri, South-Eastern Nigeria, at the moment, but has to return to England in the coming days for the start of pre-season training.

“Kelechi will return to Man City for pre-season training, he has a new manager and is keen to impress him, ” Kelechi’s rep told
allnigeriasoccer.com.

“With the new sheriff in town it is not healthy for him to go to the Olympics. He has to improve his relationship with Pep Guardiola, he is in the plans of the new manager.”

The Taye Academy product played for the U17 and U20 teams of Nigeria prior to making his debut for the senior squad in 2015.

About half of the guys invited would not make it to Brazil (17 in 35), and most of those the average folks listed above may likely be casualties.

Do me a favor, draw up your name 18-man list (particularly your 15-man list without the overage players) without looking at 35 Siasia's list. I bet you would realize that 80% of the names in your 15-man list would be in Siasia's 35-man list.

Siasia 18 man list will shock u trust me,Siasia is pig-headed,recalcitrant and unrepentant. He already knew his 18man list. He has planned it in such a way that all of them will make it to Rio. If he pressures Man city,Arsenal and Chelsea, they will release the players but he won't do that so that there would enough excuses to .

In 1996, we were able to pressure all the big teams to release our players. What has changed?

Apart from Iheanacho and Success, we should be able to secure the release of other players. It takes cooperation between country and club. Give them some concessions on fifa windows.

I would want iheanacho to spend a full preseason with pep and get a place in the team. Success is also just joining a new team.

[b]IWOBI 'DEVASTATED'AFTER ARSENAL STOP HIM FROM OLYMPICS

Alex Iwobi is “devastated” after Arsenal finally blocked him from the Rio Olympics, AfricanFootball.com can exclusively report today.

This latest decision thus overrides an earlier position by the London club that Iwobi will be allowed to break pre-season training with them to join the Nigeria Olympic team at their training camp base in the United States of America ahead of the Rio games in August.

A source close to Iwobi told AfricanFootball.com today: “Arsenal have taken a decision on Alex, he will not be going to the Olympics with Nigeria.

“The boy himself is very disappointed because he wanted to be in Rio, but Arsenal have the final say on this matter because the competition is not on the FIFA calendar. They want him to start the new season with them.”

Iwobi’s absence adds to the growing list of problems confronting coach Samson Siasia, who is far from happy with the form of his team and has admitted he cannot confirm the availability of several of the top stars he has penciled down for the summer games like Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi.

The team are slated to face another Rio Olympics-bound team, Mexico, in a warm-up game on Sunday.

Still hanging on to the "last thread of hope" that Siasia's final 18 for Rio based on the availables of the 35 will make some good sense.

Even if they are in the team, trust Siasia to play his boys ahead of this trio. Siasia knew his team from the day he was appointed. He knows the boys he wants to build their careers.

Siasia reminds me of one of my bosses when I was doing per hour job. If you can buy the boss wrist watch, he will put your name down for shift, even if you were sick and unable, you are guaranteed a spot.
As for me, Olympics is not an event I'm looking forward to. Only the basketball team and maybe one or two wrestlers will be good to watch. Others are just there on a jamboree. We wont be going past group stage with Siasia's ego.

There is nothing left in our team anymore to look up to,the new terrorist group we heralded to b unleashed in Rio is far from been realistic anymore,
Yet there is still one grip of hope still hanging on the air for some of us to cling on to. There is this strange thing that seems to work in favor of Nigeria teams, that anytime they r completely written off in any competition is when they will spring surprises n perform creditably well.
So is still hope, not all hope is lost

Thank you!!! Me still get hope well well. We are here talking about names names and names, names don't win tournaments again. Leichester City didn't win with any big name, England lost to Iceland with all their big names. I don't care who Siasia takes to Rio, he can't invite his brothers from Bayelsa for all I care, all I want is for him to implement his tactics well enough and get us to the final atleast, Period! No matter how good you are, you are not irreplacable, if their teams don't want to release them, Siasia can't do anything, blame FIFA for that not Siasia, so I won't lose hope till the games start. Same people complained when he didn't take Mikel and Osaze, still we got to the final and there really is no assurance that we would have gone beyond that with those two anyways so please calm down people, and wait for the Olympics
