yea. the dude need a longtime break to go and revive his form, then comeback.

Siasia don try for am.

maybe training with top stars like Suares or Aguero(i don't see that coming) will help him grow more in his football finishing.

I can only see 2 or 3 tournament players as for Nigeria standard. Even with this we can still go as far as semi finals

I'm only interested in watching Sadiq Umar and Azubike Okechukwu,to see what they can bring to U-20 team if they eventually invited, and of course Kingsley Madu if he is SE materials. As for the rest of the players with the exception of Mikel, na only them and siasia get business for this Olympic,to raise their value for marketing purpose, because none of these players dey for my list of our imminent golden generation. I wish them good luck

Dimgba, Awoniyi, Saviour & Yusuf Are Olympic Team Alternate Players

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been included in Nigeria’s squad for the Olympic Games as an alternate player.

Per Olympic Games rules, players handed the numbers 19-22 jerseys are not officially in the roster and will only be allowed to play in Brazil if one of the players included in the 18-man list suffers an injury during the competition.

Awoniyi made the alternate roster alongside Bala Yusuf (Kano Pillars), Stanley Dimgba (Sunshine Stars) and Saviour Godwin.

These four players will travel with the Dream Team VI to Brazil, as any of the 18 players can be replaced at any time even after the first match against Japan so long as a Fifa approved doctor confirms a player is injured.

Can Imoh and Popoola make super eagles, with the likes of Iwobi,Iheanacho,Ndidi around, not forgetting the up coming talents like Ejaria and K.Nwakali. That's all that matters to me.
If Azubike can't add value to U-20,too bad. This Olympic seems like a joke

In my formation,Mikel plays 4(diffensive midfield) to shield the back four,or play central midfielf role, link between the midfield and attack.

I just listed four midfielders,I did not positioned them, but if u really want to know how i positioned them, check the numbers as I listed them serially,u can see that Mikel either plays 4 or 10,check again before u start laughing.
The wingers are Imoh and Aminu.

However,I'll try and modify the list,n bring Mikel in between because of others like u.

I know u have problems with Mikel, but his contributions won us AFON trophy and we love him for that. Always be ready to defend yourself from Mikel's fans whenever u make any offensive remark about him

It's a shame none of the players that won us U-17 world cup three years ago will be representing us in an U-23 football event.
In '96,a similar scenario presented itself and we were able to present for about five players from the all conquering '93 U-17 set for the Olympics.

This year, players like Musa Mohamed,Success and even Iheanacho ought have been the main players representing us,if proper negotiation were been carried out.
How about Ifeanyi Mathew and Musa yahaya that no negotiation was needed.
At least,Yahaya could play from the wings which there was no natural winger on the list.

I do have a problem with mikel I feel he isn't justifiable in that team selection I would rather we field an onazi or ndidi than mikel I just feel the only thing Siasia is taking him to the Olympics is because he's my boy syndrome !!!

Mikel was our best player at that AFCON. He is our most disciplined player. Among all our defensive midfieldersz Mikel has played and done well against great legends like Pirlo, Scholes, Xavi, Iniesta etc.

Mikel put up brilliant games against Respected Clubs like Manchester United under Alex Ferguson (Especially in his first FA Cup Triumph), Barcelona (in three games, one under Hiddink and two under Di Matteo).

Onazi is a very good player but what we need is a player that will play in an organized way. Not one who will run forward to score goals.

Mikel brings in quality no other midfielder can bring.

In his first three years at Chelsea, he had the highest pass completion in the Premier League, boasting an impressive 89.93%. That’s even better than the likes of Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard or Man United’s Paul Scholes.
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 5:39am On Jul 22, 2016
Mourinho deployed Mikel as a starter in a holding role in key games where he impressed greatly, notably in the FA Cup Sixth Round replay against Tottenham Hotspur, the Champions League quarter-final games versus Valencia, the Champions League semi-final games versus Liverpool and also the victorious FA Cup Final against Manchester United.

Mikel's height and great strength, allied to good ball control and an unusually wide range of passing, allows him not only to disrupt opposing attacks, but also to spread the play effectively.

We are talking of someone who has done well in many big games here. Carrying Mikel is a big addition to the team. A leader the boys can look up to.
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 5:42am On Jul 22, 2016
Mikel impressed during his extended run in the side, earning praise from manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, a free kick from which Salomon Kalou equalised against Manchester United an example of the Nigerian's contribution to the side beyond breaking up attacks and providing protection to the defence.

Mikel made 49 appearances in all competitions over the course of the season, and played every minute of the 2009 FA Cup Final. Mikel was nominated for the club player and young player of the season, and on 22 July 2009 he signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea.

[b]Speaking to The Sun, the Blues’ boss Luiz Felipe Scolari insisted he had always known that Mikel would be an important player for him and would minimise the loss of Claude Makelele.

“I knew he would be a big part of my team,” said the Brazilian before adding, “With Claude Makelele leaving I was sure Mikel could be the player to play in his position in the future.”

“When Makelele was here he was the one playing because he was the more experienced player. But now is the time for Mikel,” admitted the Chelsea manager. “If we don't give him the chance to play, how will he get the experience? He's had maybe 20 games for me and played 18 very well.”

The midfielder is still only 21, yet having spent two seasons playing alongside the many internationals at Stamford Bridge, Scolari insists he has improved markedly already. He said: “He's so young, only 21, and has learned a lot with Makelele and Michael Essien.”

“He looks like he belongs in the position, knows more about his position and is a more experienced player,” admitted Scolari before concluding, “Mikel is like a lot of African players who have what all coaches want which is power but also style where they are comfortable with the ball, can control it and dribble with it.”

Shuaibu Amodu (former Super Eagles Coach) told The Sun: "Mikel was my boy before he became a star.

"But he was quite small when he was 14 and when I saw him playing later for one of our youth teams I had to ask 'Is that little John Obi?'

"He has grown, become stronger and his full potential is just beginning to materialise. Chelsea are looking after him very well.

I think this is a fair list considering the players Siasia had on hand...

Let them work for team cohesion now...

I hope Liverpool secure a better club to loan Awo to. He needs a place where the coach can help him polish his finishing. He does every other thing right. If he can get this right, top clubs will come for him.

Wish the young man the best.

Mikel is still strolling. Remarkably, he clocked a lower top speed than any Palace player on the pitch, including Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace Goal Keeper). But time and again he got into the right positions to shut down the opposition and that's part of what's been lacking.

There were the tackles, interceptions, clearances, blocks but even those details can be too showy for Mikel. Instead it's the ball recoveries - the times he was in the right place to pick up second balls and recycle possession - that really highlight his significance.

Mikel was the only player on either side to gain possession of the ball as many times as they surrendered it on Saturday - a statistic aided by his characteristically simple distribution. The 28-year-old found a team-mate with 78 of his 82 passes.

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/10118569/john-obi-mikel-showed-his-worth-as-chelsea-won-3-0-at-crystal-palace

People complain about Mikel because they want to see speed. They attribute speed to quality.

The above excerpt shows how Mikel moves slowly on the pitch but delivers quality performances repeatedly.

This is why he is a Chelsea Success Story. Why he helped us win the AFCON and our stand out player at the Confederations Cup.

Of course you know the exceptional ones were nt released by their clubs while the others(majority) are still trying to put themselves together career-wise.

A lot of them are still U20 which makes them elligle to play in the next WYC and 2020 Olympics.

A player like Awoniyi for me is nt ready for the level of competition has been made to go through( I have been saying this all along).

The truth is same goes to a lot of that U17 set. MRI made sure there was little or no age cheating. Alot of them are still kids. 90% of those guys playing U23 would have failed the MRI had it been it works for 23yrs olds.U understand what I mean.

My opinion is Awoniyi should b sent to d U20 camp. At that level he will compete more favorably, contribute more and would also develop his skills more. Same goes for Chidera Ezeh and Musa Yahaya.
Zaharadeen Bello was at the CAF U23 bt was dropped after that first game against Mali. Nothing has been heard of him ever since. He too should go compete for position with d current crop of U20 defenders.

I need nt also tell u what Ifeanyi Mathew can bring to d U20 team. The thing is Amuneke would need to know how best to combine him and K. Nwakali in d same team, for though they play similar position bt in contrasting styles.

I personally believe in career progression. Not all players' development are rapid. Some exceptional ones like Iheanacho and Success have already started making waves while some others are enjoying some loan spells and expecting some thing good at d end of it.

Some of that U17 class are even no where to b found! Eg where are Edwin Okon and Chigozie Obasi?

Okon i know recently got married.

"He's the ideal player in my option to bring balance to the team. If the team is not willing to defend well, or hasn't got the right balance, then you'll concede a lot of goals. I think John Obi can be one of the key figures in bringing back that balance."... Guus Hiddink.

This is why I believe our team will leak less goals with Mikel. The only challenge we will have now is, if Coach Siasia still wants to shield the defence with Azubuike. Even if Coach Siasia does this, Mikel should still hold a deep role.

That is Just like the Pirlo and Gatusso combination of AC Milan under Ancelotti.

Azubuike plays the DMF and Mikel plays a deep CMF role like Pirlo. Helping out in shielding the defence.

Good morning you all and have a nice day.

Rio Bound Besiktas Target Aminu Umar Lifts Team To Europa League Victory With Hat Trick

Aminu Umar celebrated his inclusion in Nigeria’s final squad for the Olympics in Rio with a hattrick in Osmanlispor 5-0 victory over Zimbru in the 2nd qualifying round of the Europa League.

Umar who has four caps for the Nigeria senior national team struck his first goals via the spot in the 16th minute before adding another in ten minutes later to give them a 2-0 lead going into the half time break.

The forward who is still being heavily courted by Turkish league Champions Besiktas earned himself the match ball five minutes after the break with his third goal to put his team 3-0 up with less than an hour played.

Erdal Kilicaslan increased the tally for the Turks with a 4th before Raul Rusescu rounded up the comprehensive victory over the Moldovans with a 5th to give them a 5-0 win, confirming their passage to the next round on a 7-2 aggregate score.

Since moving to Europe in the 2013/2014 season from Nigeria Premier League side Wikki Tourist, this is the first time he is scoring a hattrick in his professional career ironically it is also his first taste of European continental football.

Olarenwaju Kayode Scores Twice To Fire Austria Wien Into Next Round Of Europa League

Former Nigeria youth International Olarenwaju Kayode emerged as the hero for his team Austria Wien in their 4-1 victory away to Albania’s Kukesi in the qualifying series of the Europa League.

The 4-1 win secured Austria Wien passage to the next round of the Europa League on a 5-1 aggregate win, thanks to their Nigerian import who started the scoring spree with a goal in each half.

Austria Wien arrived Albania with a slim 1-0 win from the first leg played a week ago in Austria and Kukesi were counting on home support to overturn the slim deficit but Wien’s Nigerian forward had other ideas.

Sixteen minutes into the game Kayode found the back of the net for the game’s opening goal to give his side an aggregate lead of 2-0 and just one minute to the half hour mark he doubled their lead and advantage on aggregate with his and his side second goal.

Raphael Holzhauser scored the third goal for the visitors to kill off any chance of a fight back for the home team before Rahman Hallaci scored what ended as a consolation for Kukesi and their fans in the 79th minute although that too was short lived when Christophe Martschinko fired in a fifth for Austria Wien.

TheGoodJoe:

Lol we are talking of mikel not Paul pogba !! I just feel mikel will disgrace us this tournament these are u23 fast, athletic the last time we took Osaze u saw how good he was ... I really doubt Nigeria if going to reach the final ... next I really want to see d next generation of super eagles I would love to see ndidi, mikel should rest left to me anyways Siasia ish !!!
