talking rubbish.... are these not the same boys who won the nations cup for us??... the whole team is out of shape stop crucifying the poor guys.

I won't debate with you since I can see you lack the decency to pass across your message without sounding immature.
What is wrong with just stating your opinion without you saying someone is saying rubbish.
Learn to think and act smart bro. Your kinda mindset is wrong. Try to pass across your message without being plain rude.

Er, Taribo did not play at USA 94. His first World Cup was 98, and we conceded 9 goals in 4 matches. No doubt Taribo's class was way above what we have today. The guy was a regular at both Inter and AC Milan. Omeruo and Oboabona have become complacent in recent times. They really need to sit up and get their act together. They can be much better than they are today.

Oh, and the Argies didn't defeat us with a last minute penalty. They had two well executed free kicks with with Claudio Cannigia scored. Our inexperience killed us.

Thanks for the corrections and further updates. We are still on same page on a few things including the inexperience and the fact we held our own Taribo West was also in a class of his own alongside his team members

we need more brutal and mean centre backs. Omeruo is trying but not there yet. I remember Nigeria vs Argentina at the Olypmics final. Taribo and co were mean. brutal and fearless.
the super eagles we had then won't strughle against teams like Congo and sudan. they match Argentina, spain and Brazil.

Taribo is experienced and had the right to say what he feels about those who are playing the side he has onece played.
He is a legend.
Does winning the nation's cup give them the right to relax now?...... They are suppose to be getting better!

My Opinion though.

he won the world cup and the Euros based on the hard labour of others,he never made an appearance during the world cup and euros which Spain won and so will not be fully respected as an achievement.Assuming Valdes was the no.1 choice during that outing do you think spain would have won that trophy.

Even Oliver Kahn would swap being a world cup winner on the bench than not winning it at all

Former Super Eagles great, Taribo West has blasted the defensive pair of Kenneth Omeruo and Godfrey Oboabona, labelling their efforts in the ongoing Nations Cup qualifiers as amateurish.

The former Derby County defender, once considered world class by his peers, clearly has a low opinion on the Eagles' current back line after pushing the national team's caretaker coach Shaibu Amodu to look for replacements for both centre-back and left-back positions.West, who won a gold medal in the 96' Olympic Games, claimed Nigeria had themselves to blame for their disappointing position and Omerou and Oboabona should take the majority of the blame.

- The Eagles impressed me [during their 3-1 win over Sudan] but our defence was suspect and Omeruo and [Godfrey] Oboabona played like amateur defenders, Taribo told hereisthecity.com
- They are good defenders but they were too relaxed and made the same mistakes over and over again. We have conceded goals in the same way in the qualifiers.- Sudan's goal in Nigeria's 3-1 win was similar to the one against us in the first leg in Kartoum.

- They only did well against South Africa, though they made some mistakes. South Africa had the opportunity to execute one-on-one moves and score goals but Vincent Enyeama saved us. The two defenders didn't play like champions or professionals in other games.- I think they need competition. We need to scout for new central defenders. I would have suggested that they should be dropped but we don't have better replacements for them now. But we should work on improving their weaknesses.
This is not the first time West will rail at young defenders, as he labelled Joseph Yobo and the other new faces in the Super Eagles team to the 2002 World Cup in Korea Japan as 'junk players'http://www.futaa.com/football/article/omeruo-and-oboabona-are-amateurs--taribo-west

Taribo is absolutely right. This is d first time i'm seen a correct analytical problem of Super Eagle bcs most of the critics always point out lack of playmaker in d mould Okocha is d bane of Super Eagles which i always disagreed.Pls let us analyse SE without sentiment and our analysis should be based on 2015 Afcon qualifyer matches we ve played so far. From my own perspective,i will say defence failed us woefully i mean d right and left fullbacks and d central defenders plus d defensive midfielder.Honestly we dont have much problem in central midfield and attacks though there is need to fortify this areas. But d major area that needs serious attention is d defence which Taribo has sincerely pointed out. Most goals conceded so far were due to defensive lapses either from d fullbacks or central defence.Another area of concern is defensive midfield bcs a very good defensive midfielder would protect his back four but we are lacking that in SE presently. It was due to these lapses Keshi had to dropped Ambrose,Echiejele, move Onazi to right full back, brought Oshaniwa to d left and Hope Akpan to the defensive midfield but d central defence still failed us with that cheeky goal by Sudan. There is need for Amodu to look at these areas,if he want to suceed in d next two matches or else.
