US, Other Nations Condemn Violence In Libya by eunisam: 7:59am On Oct 20, 2014
Washington - The United
States and four other nations
are strongly condemning the
ongoing violence in Libya and
calling for an immediate
cessation of hostilities. Joining the US in the
condemnation are France,
Italy, Germany and Britain. In a joint statement, the five
nations say that Libya's hard-
fought freedom is at risk if
Libyan and international
terrorist groups are allowed to
use the African nation as a haven. The five nations say they stand
ready to use individual
sanctions in accordance with a
UN Security Council resolution
against those who threaten
the peace, stability or security of Libya or obstruct or
undermine the political
process. In the Libyan city of Benghazi
on Friday, fighting raged
between Islamist militias and
forces loyal to Libya's elected
government. Dozens have died
in three days of conflict.
