Am good dear. Hope your day wasn't stressful.?
What's so scary about feminism that you guys are running from it??
According to Wikipedia: 'Feminism is a range of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women.'
That doesn't sound so scary to me :-/

My day was filled with mixed emotions.

Hmmmmmm....in Nigeria; in our African home; in our christian home- any woman who is seeking the bolded is looking for trouble in the long run.
She better marry an extremely 'Loyal guy'.

I can deal with a bad cook, low/poor bedroom activist et al, but pride is a "no no" for me.

Excerpts:
I have chosen to no longer be apologetic for my
femaleness and my femininity. And I want to be
respected in all of my femaleness because I demand to be.
We teach girls shame. “Close your legs. Cover yourself.” We make them feel as though being born female they’re already guilty of something. And so, girls
grow up to be women who cannot say they have desire. They grow up to be women who silence themselves. They grow up to be women who cannot say what they truly think. And they grow up — and this is the worst thing we do to girls — they grow up to be women who have turned pretense into an art form.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, We Should All Be Feminists
In as much as I love and respect my lady, if she decides to follow and demand the quoted, then husband and wives are many in Nigeria.

The truth is as there's neither a perfect man nor perfect lady out there as most of us inadvertently crave, there's no marriage devoid of challenges and frictions, but with mutual trust, understanding and God factor, the home could still be a haven.
The key to marital bliss is to match style with ambition while still searching, in other words developing good character and hanging out with folks of like minds because like dissolves like.

You know what? Men who treat their wives like slaves all in the name of "Head of the family" are uncivilized (I'm sorry if dats harsh). But, feminists for house? na for everything she go dey claim right grin. I think feminists deserve traditional men, maybe that would make them submissive wink

So if we changed settings and location, then you will be okay with it??

FYI, I'm not here to drag issues. I just really want to understand why it scares you guys. Being a feminist doesn't stop me from being a woman and expressing myself in that light( my personal view.)

Truth is, things are changing, rapidly. If I understand correctly, I believe what they seek is equal understanding, equal rights, equal opportunities. I fail to see how advocating for these rights stops me from being the ' supportive woman and wife' in my home.

Forgive my post, my thoughts are scattered.

You misunderstand completely what feminism is about. What rights is she claiming in HER HOME?

There is no lie in what she has said tho. We all experience those in our homes.

The way I see it, some so called feminist have misconstrued what feminism is about. I personally didn't give two hoots about it because of the way it was portrayed here until I read up on it 30mins ago.

In all, life is complicated enough. Let's just live it as it comes, a day at a time, treat each other with respect that the deserve and most importantly RESPECT PEOPLE'S OPINIONS, which you don't even have to agree to smiley
