Poetry is a beautiful genre of literature but just few appreciate the beauty. My mission here is to teach you all I know about this pleasing genre of literature.

Dear poets, let's uplift this section together because it worth it.

LESSON 1

What is a Kyirelle Poem?

A Kyrielle poem is structured so that all the lines
have eight syllables and each stanza of four lines
ends in a refrain. It takes on a rhythmical form
very much like a rhyming couplet .
What is the structure of a Kyirelle Poem?
A Kyrielle poem is made up of 4 lined stanzas of
eight syllables each. The capital being the refrain:

aabB
ccbB
ddbB
eebB

An example of a Kyrielle Poem

Pollution

Pollution rising in the sky,
People wear masks as they walk by,
It's about time to turn the bend,
For all this pollution to end.

Animals are losing their homes,
To make way for buildings with domes,
What message do we have to send,
For all this pollution to end.

We're all guilty we must confess,
Guilty of making such a mess,
It's time for action, find a friend,
For all this pollution to end.

If we don't act the world won't last,
Breathing fresh air will have long passed,
This is the message that I send,
For all this pollution to end.

lemme just give it a try

war

wanted to be a simple man
prayed against Satan's evil plan
spent days and nights in church praying
Hoping one of the verse saves me

blood everywhere, lil brother dead
I fought the urge, to shoot my head
my last FAM left, the world hates me
tried to curse God, but words failed me

revenge is a dish best served cold
revenge is a bîtch, but its bold
I was young, not dumb, was 18
a pastor, now got guns spraying

kill for peace of mind, I thought up
same peace I seek, got me locked up
these are my last days, none bailed me
until I beg God, come save me

A friend

To paint a picture with words
A task deemed fit for gods
A paper, some courage, a pen
In poetry, i find a friend

My loyal pen becomes my eyes
On void papers, i live my life
To write forever, i intend
In poetry, i found a friend

As Metaphor and similes
Become part of my family
An honor, to always defend
In poetry, i found a friend

When time fades, and people detach
No one left, to be by my side
A humble pal, until the end
In poetry, i found a friend

IS SHEKAU DYING TONIGHT? (Kyrielle)

Good morning the merchants of wars;
Gallant forces upholding laws
Our brothers maim us at first sight
Is Bin Shekau dying tonight?

I've seen a brother lost his head
Just cuz he would not make life dead.
You're our friend, fight for our ra ped right.
Is Bin Shekau dying tonight?

We're served death like chickens on streets
In chaos's kitchen all for heartbeats...
We're been fettered by terror's might!
Is Bin Shekau dying tonight?

We've seen them taunt their terror live
On western mirror, "he's alive!"
"No, he's dead but alive in fright..."
Is Bin Shekau dying tonight? angry

to take a slow walk down the aisle (Kyrielle)

We can't keep living in shadow
Enough; this mirage we wallow
It's dead! A promise a long mile
To take a slow walk down the aisle

It's high time old sun went to hell
Let's be our past fearless farewell
The feelings burns slow, no more high
To take a slow walk down the aisle

An end has come to wayward way
A new day booms like buds of May
No more passions unless I lie
To take a slow walk down the aisle

Now it's real; no more lies and fears
O' Ye new bride, shed your sweet tears
I heap fortune to live on isle
To take a slow walk down the aisle

LESSON 3

When a diamante poem is written it takes on the
shape of a diamond.

The Structure of a Diamante Poem

A diamante poem is made up of 7 lines using a
set structure:

Line 1: Beginning subject
Line 2: Two describing words about line 1
Line 3: Three doing words about line 1
Line 4: A short phrase about line 1, a short
phrase about line 7
Line 5: Three doing words about line 7
Line 6: Two describing words about line 7
Line 7: End subject

Example

Plane
Long, swift
Aviating, twirling, zooming
Powered fixed wings, moving along roads
Speeding, racing, roaring
Quick, loud,
Car

Unfortunately, I can't arrange the poem in a diamond shape here in Nairaland...oooops

You can mail me to see how it looks like.
