Why I Want Buhari To Rule Nigeria by Abagworo(m): 8:12am On Oct 21, 2014
I've sat down keenly to take a good look at the situation we've found ourselves in Nigeria and I believe a lot of progress has been made but its impact can never be felt until the root cause of Nigeria's problem is tackled. I've analysed the successes of the Obasanjo administration especially in Agriculture, telecom and Banking which is a proof that Nigeria can work. Jonathan has tried to consolidate the gains and is not doing badly but we seem to have lost the impact of the successes. At the twilight of the Obasanjo era, the refineries were sold at low price to a consortium involving Billionaire Aliko Dangote and if not for Yar'Adua's misguided actions, that move would have paid off by now. Obasanjo also initiated the conversion of flaring gas to power through the importation of turbines and laying of pipelines to supply gas to the turbines. This idea was a birth child of former Rivers Governor Peter Odili and it consumed so much of State funds. Obasanjo also made history of awarding the 1st private owned power generation plant to a genius from Enugu State known as Prof Barth Nnaji. That will be the cradle of power privatization. Yar'Adua/Jonathan came in and inherited these positive moves out of which some successes have been recorded but Nigeria remains in darkness. The reason is simply because of that fundamental issue which has remained untackled.

As at 2009 when Yar'Adua was still the head, there was still subsidy on petrol, diesel and kerosine and the total amount paid for subsidy was 270 billion Naira. 2 years later in 2011 subsidy was completely removed from diesel and petrol price was increased from 65 to 97 Naira but yet subsidy increased by 1000% to 2.7 trillion Naira. Why? Because the fundamental issue has not been tackled.

What is the fundamental issue?

The fundamental issue holding us down is corruption and as pointed out by Sanusi in one of his famous presentations coupled with the fear of vested interest. Jonathan ordinarily looks to me like a good man with good intentions but the fear of vested interest has lead him to tolerate impunity and open corruption from everyone around him.

Solution

Vote in Buhari. My birth coincided with the emergence of Buhari as military head of State but the impact of his short stay and its legendary stories have lived till this generation. His War against indiscipline and hard stand against corruption when he was a youth is an evidence that as an elder today his stand against corruption will be tougher. I'm not supporting Buhari Presidency because I want him to turn Nigeria around like Obasanjo or embark on building of towers or even roads and rails. I'm supporting him to use 4 years and end corruption once and for all before handing over to a younger man/woman.

I love Nigeria greatly and the reason for most of our woes is corruption.

God bless GMB

God bless GEJ

God bless ABAGW

corruption is not the major problem with Nigeria....our major problem is we lacked the technical know how to build a sustainable society....

let me start by saying obasonjo didn't do too much performance wise, he was below average for me ( say 20%).

Nigeria is a country with plenty problem of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, ethnicity, lack of social amenities, power problem etc.

How do we solve all these problem with the meager income of federal government through crude oil exploration

Bro, they are merely wasting their own time. Despite our back and forth daily on Nairaland, Nigerians are passionately in the mood for change on the ground and Buhari will be the beneficiary of that strong desire for change.

Same way TANdroids love to tell us GMB is the wrong candidate for the APC is how I now tell them that GEJ is a self - defeatist choice for the ultra-corrupt leaders of the PDP only thinking of what is best for themselves rather than for Nigeria. Many are willing to look beyond the flaws of GMB and vote APC because GEJ is now a totally known entity who represents everything that has destroyed and continues to destroy Nigeria. How can Nigerians, if they are sane voters like others worldwide, hand more time to someone now firmly confirmed to be part of the system of corruption, cronyism and misrule destroying Nigeria?

Buhari can guarantee us a corruption free government. A corrupt free government is a government of the people.
Lets vote wisely and kick out this heavily corrupt and clueless administration .
The God that delivered us from ebola will surely deliver us from Ebele. Amen.
Gej till 2015.

Indeed. This is a leader other leaders despise deeply because he embarrasses the word "leader" with his actions and inactions that make it very obvious he is a big part of the biggest problems facing his nation.

These days I don't even need to say much unlike in 2011 elections. Perception and reality is dawning on Nigerians that GEJ is the worst devil we have as a leader in a democratic setting.

2015, the power lies in our hands to vote out this aimless and clueless being called GEJ. Nigeria is in dire need of a change!

Nigeria shall be great again. APC represents CHANGE.

GMB would have made a good president in the 80s and 70s but he won't make much difference now in the age of smart phones and twitter. Yes he is an anti-corruption person but he is also dictator with a singular mind. Imagine what will happen to our press.
We are enjoying a lot of freedom in nigeria, as opposed to certain countries where the media is heavily censored. take China for example; its an industrialised country were nobody can criticise the government. With GMB as president sites like nairaland will be another boring place because nobody will have the guts to speak freely. Not to talk of TV stations like Channels, we'll probably be stuck with NTA (Boring).
GMB is controversial. And in country where everything is seen from a ethno-religious spectrum, GMB will probably cost APC a lot because SE, SS and middle belt are afraid of a core northerner in power.
If however BRF is fielded as APC flag bearer..... Pheew... GEJ is in serious trouble and that will be an election of epic proportion. Everybody likes BRF regardless of ethnicity or creed. The man is appealing to the different sections of nigeria; youths, elders, women, civil servants etc. Am not from the Sw and I don't care about religion. But I want change in Nigeria. GMB is anti-corruption but he is not the change we need. BRF is that change. Besides isn't the VP post, more or less, ceremonial. Why shackle BRF to such a post. Unleash the man.
Please BRF should run. GMB can mentor him. GEJ can retire.

While Abagworo is urging Buhari to embark on another failed journey, those close to him are urging him not to contest.
Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Dr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, a Rep from Kano has adviced Buhari not to contest.
Dr. Abdulmumin Jibrin is an APC member from Kano.

Abagworo,it is obvious GEJ cannot fight corruption because fear of vested interest.

Don't we have somebody else who can tackle corruption apart from Buhari?

I felt pity for Nigerians when i plied the road between Enugu - Portharcourt yesterday.

That road is in a VERY sorry state.I thought "they" said the road
has been rehabilitated?

He stands as an enduring symbol of ingratitude & intractability to the millions of nigerians that hinged their hopes on him, doesnt matter wether for the wrong or right reasons, cos he was least qualified to run for that office as at then. He has effectively written himself off the looming contest, & just cant wait for him to be flushed.

He's flunked it big time.
