Greatest Chemists in the house I hail thee.

After searching for a thread about Chemistry to no avail I decided to create one so as to discuss and learn from everyone. Am a chemistry student in one of the federal universities in the south west, I will be going to 200level when the new session begins so let me say am still a chemist in the embryo.
I want to learn to from you guys especially the graduates, how are you guys faring in the labour market considering the versatility of the course, how is postgraduate school like? Hope it's not hard and how did you graduate successfully without difficulty considering the fact that people believe Chemistry lecturers are sadists... In simple English tell me how you fared in school.

Lastly, how do you feel to have studied Chemistry? Any regrets? A large percentage of Nigerians know nothing about chemistry, some say it's about selling drugs and some feel it's an ordinary subject which doesn't need to be studied. Scholarship giving bodies hardly recognize chemistry or better still they don't know if it exists,an example is the mtn foundation scholarship which does not list chemistry as a course for eligible applicants.
I can go on and on but........... over to you guys

Well Chemistry is very good course, not easy and quite stressful. It is very versatile and has lots of employment opportunities, you can Google search for careers under Chemistry and you will get more info.... my fellows will tell you More

Medicinal chemistry is an aspect I like and I will like to specialize there some day.

Medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical
chemistry are disciplines at the intersection
of chemistry, especially synthetic organic
chemistry, and pharmacology and various
other biological specialties, where they are
involved with design , chemical synthesis
and development for market of
pharmaceutical agents, or bio-active
molecules ( drugs).
Compounds used as medicines are most
often organic compounds , which are often
divided into the broad classes of small
organic molecules (e.g., atorvastatin,
fluticasone , clopidogrel ) and
" biologics" (infliximab , erythropoietin,
insulin glargine), the latter of which are
most often medicinal preparations of
proteins (natural and recombinant
antibodies, hormones , etc.). Inorganic and
organometallic compounds are also useful
as drugs (e.g., lithium and platinum-based
agents such as lithium carbonate and cis-
platin .
In particular, medicinal chemistry in its
most common guise—focusing on small
organic molecules—encompasses synthetic
organic chemistry and aspects of natural
products and computational chemistry in
close combination with chemical biology,
enzymology and structural biology ,
together aiming at the discovery and
development of new therapeutic agents.
Practically speaking, it involves chemical
aspects of identification, and then
systematic, thorough synthetic alteration of
new chemical entities to make them
suitable for therapeutic use. It includes
synthetic and computational aspects of the
study of existing drugs and agents in
development in relation to their
bioactivities (biological activities and
properties), i.e., understanding their
structure-activity relationships (SAR).
Pharmaceutical chemistry is focused on
quality aspects of medicines and aims to
assure fitness for purpose of medicinal
products. [citation needed]
At the biological interface, medicinal
chemistry combines to form a set of highly
interdisciplinary sciences, setting its
organic, physical , and computational
emphases alongside biological areas such
as biochemistry, molecular biology ,
pharmacognosy and pharmacology ,
toxicology and veterinary and human
medicine; these, with project management ,
statistics , and pharmaceutical business
practices, systematically oversee altering
identified chemical agents such that after
pharmaceutical formulation, they are safe
and efficacious, and therefore suitable for
use in treatment of disease.

I've not read a graduate's post here. Chemistry graduates (especially those on NL) obviously (from past experience in addition) aren't much enthusiastic OR don't want to comment on their course of study.
To graduates of Chemistry (any form) reading this: how really is it? Don't leave us in the dark.

Am graduate of chemistry education.
We were encumbered with studying chemistry and at d same time our education courses, we had lots of challenges dealing with this and some other factors...but all the same it's d most beautiful course to study.

Physical Chemistry
Inorganic chemistry
Organic chemistry
Analytical chemistry
Application of Spectrometric techniques
Chemical Kinetics
6 hours practical
Thermodynamics
6-hours practical on tuesday
6-hours practical on thursday...of which u must write their reports before 48hours.
Heterocyclic and Aromatic Chemistry
Bifunctional, Metals & Inorganic chemistry
Transition metals
Organic Synthesis (Best course)
.........and so

Thanks for showing corncern. I actually asked 'how is it?' with respect to life after school. I'm already a student.
