Yekini was a good scorer and had a knack for it but he was skill-less and couldn't quite ever work out a goal let alone produce assists. Kanu although he was not knocking in goals scored brilliant goals arising from uncanny sense of ball juggling. Please review his equalizer with brazil during d olympics and notice how he raised the ball in a goal mouth melee before blasting away. You should see his ball control, his movement on and off the ball, his positioning and goal sense. Yekini was dangerous both within and outside the box. False 9 or not Yekini remsins Naija's all-time 9 on the basis of his goal scoring record.
Juliud Aghahowa, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and even Obafemi Martins will be mentioned before Kanu as #9s as far as Naija super eagles is concerned because they simpky scored more goals.

How can you base your opinion on sentiment (e.g. Kanu heart problem) when stats are there to see?
Even before the heart problems Kanu was NEVER a prolific goalscorer for the senior national side or for his clubsides.

He was hardly the tap-in striker. He had a ferrocious right foot shot and was good in the air. Ask anyone who saw Tunisia 94 vs DR Congo fir starters.

Yes, Yekini was not skill but back in his days, he played football the way it was played. I however believe he would not have succeeded if he was a striker in today's world and I am reluctant to see Kanu as a 9. He was a 8/10 player thats sometime played as a 9. He does better when playing off a striker ( Ozil/Arsenal Fabregas role ) or as a Pirlo/current Chelsea Fabregas role.
