The 5L jug is sold for 18k in kaduna while the 1L pack of 6 is sold for 21k.

I import mine. While the ordinary Mobil 1 5w-30 is ok, with non-dyno oil, my manual recommends filter change is at 5,000 miles and oil change at 3,000 miles. So I think it makes more sense to use Mobil 1 Extended Performance for 15,000 miles + a performance filter and change the filter at either 7,500 miles x 2 if I am paranoid or run 1 performance filter for the entire 15,000 miles or run the ordinary filter and change at 5,000 mile intervals.

But that is my choice after extensive research and weighing all the factors including other users who have done the same including oil tests at Blackstone for the same kind of vehicle.

Your case may be different.

I use Milemaster 5W30 from Konga. 5liters keg goes for N6000. That is what I use for my cars and no cause for complaint.

It makes no economic sense to buy synthetic 5w30 @ 10k while there is a synthetic blend 5w30 @6k.

Konga is the way since you will get quality filter bundled.

Read earlier posts. I believe there are no less than 3 people on this thread that have used MileMaster. On another thread there is someone who has done 6000 miles on that oil. I think his username / handle is adanny.

I drove a lexus rx 300 and have been using Mile Master for about a year now. My last change of oil was a little above 5,000 and no fuse about anything. Buy it at 6,500 from a guy who imports it from the US. He delivers to me and have been happy doing business with him.

You might just be frying your engine gradually without knowing it. Even the konga site is silent on the Rx despite recommending the oil for V6 of Camry, Highlander & Solara.

It is a good oil. The acceleration of your car will improve tremendously. Stop using that 20w50 crap.

synthetic blend is same as semi-synthetic.The danger with synthetic blend/semi synthetic is you do not actually know the proportion of synthetic in the blend as there is no standard.Some manufacturers might even put as low as 10% synthetic in the oil.It is always better to use the fully synthetic of your recommended oil.Also know that you can have recommended oil of say 5w 20 in synthetic blend.A typical example of this is coastal oil.Coastal has all the oil weight 5w20, 5w30 in both fully synthetic and synthetic blend.I made this mistake once; I saw 5w30 and bought it only to discover that it's a synthetic blend.I have since changed to Hardex Oil which comes in fully synthetic.It is available on Jumia

Interestingly the fully synthetic Hardex 20w-50 version is sold for less than N4000 on Jumia. At that price makes you wonder if they are really fully synthetic.

As more awareness is being created on 5w-20 and 5w-30 oils there would always be importers who would take advantage and import conventional oils and put them in gallons that have stickers suggesting they are semi-synthetic, synthetic blend, or full synthetic.

We all need to do a bit more work in identifying the correct viscosities and brands to use. A good starting point might be to contact the oil manufacturers and establish if they even export their oils to Nigeria. You might discover that someone is just copying their products and bringing them here making all sorts of claims.

my initial submission was based specifically on the Rx300.
@colossus2: I think your oil should be okay if you get it from accredited Toyota dealers because of adulteration as earlier stated on this thread. As for the service interval, it is said that 5000km or 3months(whichever comes first) should suffice to guard against sludge which the RX is prone to.
However, I use the oil specified by my engine cap.Please note the SAE and API directives.These and many others tallied with the manufacturer's instructions.

Guy,i see u eventually got the oil. When will your car be due for servicing? I want to compare it with total quartz 9000 5w40. I was told my car will be due for servicing after 6mths or 7000miles whichever comes early.
