The National Assembly may make law to compel
electricity consumers, especially highly indebted
customers, such as the army and the police to
pay their bills.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatisation,
Senator Olugbenga Obadara, disclosed this when the committee visited the Kano Electricity
Distribution Company according to a statement
made available to our correspondent in Abuja on
Tuesday by Head of Public Communication at the
Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mr. Chigbo Anichebe.
Responding to an appeal for the National Assembly to intervene in order to get military
formations and the Police to pay their huge debts
to electricity distribution companies; Obadara
said the National Assembly would come up with a
legislation to compel consumers to pay for
energy consumed. He also advised the management of KEDCO to
come up with incentives that would motivate
consumers of electricity to willingly pay their bills.
Receiving the senators, the Managing Director/
Chief Executive Officer of Sahelian Power SPV
Limited, owners of KEDCO, Dr. Jamil Gwamna, said the company had signed an agreement with
Ajaokuta Steel Company for the supply of 90MW
of electricity to KEDCO to augment the inadequate
allocation it currently receives.

If it's in the law, the barracks will pay, they are humans, they aren't animals, they aren't devils... If you do the right thing, we still have reasonable soldiers

So dem no dey pay before? Now I wonder what they use their money for.

They don't pay house rent - they live in the barracks
They don't pay for transportation - they claim staff

Army Barracks have turned to Mini Settlements across the country with huge Civilian population living inside the Barracks and in wooden houses (Batcher) , and @ Night Soldiers at the gate collect Toll from these people in order to gain access to their homes.

Everyone should pay for what they consume and in such cases where the Police, Army buildings have been turned to commercial enterprises it's even more reason why they should PAY!!!!!!!

Thank You. A good development.
#But please what has happened to our 3 million jobs committee?

What? So I will now be paying electricity bill. I thought it was free service. But by the it is only in Nigeria we pay for what we don't see, light, tax to develop the country and so on. I rather pay for gen than to pay for electricity cause I bring it anytime I like unlike NEPA that brings on default, one day in, two weeks out.

Useless country where you see people amaze wealth without paying tax... imagine this nonsense news, are they not earning salaries for the work they are doing.. so they are using free electricity. Nigeria Is bleeped up big time
