Is education really a conspiracy? Why are the greatest minds of all time were neither 'school goer' nor PhD holder but 'retards and drop outs'

Does formal education as we have it limits us humans in one way or another? How come the more we have educated elites among us or more 'school goers', so we do have less breakthrrough innovation compare to the past and why is it that majority of what we see as new development today are actually a recycle of previous inventions by people we may call today 'uneducated'
