Lets Talk About Estonia by europestudy2015: 12:57pm On Oct 29, 2014
Estonia is a small beautiful North Eastern European country. It has a population of less than 1.4m people. Its capital is in Tallinn, that borders between Russia and Finland. Though many people regard Estonia as another poor Eastern Europe country but the reverse is the case. Estonians regards themselves more as Scandinavian countries with Denmark, Sweden and Finland. They have a high living standard with low unemployment rate.
Estonia is a member of European Union, Schengen zone, and also a member of NATO(Cyber security headquarter of Nato is located in tallinn, Estonia). A very advanced country in Information Technology. One of their most popular start up is SKYPE though later sold to Facebook.
IT in Estonia
A popular IT system here is the use of ID Card. with this card, u can virtually access all Government services like Health care, transport, Business registration etc and banking and all other business. Infact, government services in Estonia runs 24 hours. As simple as it may sound, E Governance in Estonia is quite complex system. All database of information of all public and private organization are connected with a technology called X- Road. Serious countries all over the world send their citizens here for training to learn how Estonia e governance work. (Google e Estonia).
A brief scenario of how the system work as regards to police
An offender committed a crime in lets say UK and decides to come over to Estonia to settle whereas UK govt is on the look for him. If come here and enter a public bus, the system will notify the Estonia police of his current location. If he decides to use his own car, a camera that scans Plate nos detects his location because the car registration is linked to him. So crime here is extremely low because everything is connected.

Transport is generally free in Tallinn Estonia with free wifi connected in public places like bus stops, malls, parks etc. Internet is also connected to the houses in Tallinn(free). In fact, internet is like a human right here. Everything u do here is on the internet.
The cost of living here is extremely low compared with other EU countries.
Languages spoken in Estonia - Eesti, English and Russia in that order.
Education in Estonia
There are two main public university in Estonia, Tartu University and Tallinn University of Technology. Tartu university is a conventional university and among top 350 schools in the world. Its located in a city called Tartu. Tallinn University of Technology as the name implies is a Technology based university. Because the country is an IT based country, they tend to support courses in Engineering and IT based with scholarship and tuition free programs. This simply mean that if u apply and lucky to get a course in fields related to IT and Engineering in general, then u are automatically on scholarship. No school fees payment till u graduate. I just stumbled on this post and I want to believe that 'europestudy2015' is in Estonia at the moment. I applied early this year to University of Tartu through dreamapply though my application was rejected due to requirement and I'm planning to re-apply again this year ending when the portal will be opened again, reason being that I see the need to improve on my motivation letter. I don't mind any assistance you can render as regards this. Thanks.
Re: Lets Talk About Estonia by cconcept: 4:44pm On Nov 29, 2014
Maybe you should clearly state the reasons why your application was rejected if you have been told...if not, politely ask the admission office....the house can then advise you on how to go about it.
What course did you apply for?
Re: Lets Talk About Estonia by Mickyboiz: 6:20pm On Nov 29, 2014
No tuition fee
if the student is studying
with full study load. If
student fails to study with
full study load then the
price of 1 ECTS is 43 EUR.* plss house i found ds on talinn university of technology pardon me i dnt really understand ds plss does it means dat if i av low cgpa/ fail a course sum1 wil start payin for tuition fees i dnt really understand ?
Re: Lets Talk About Estonia by cconcept: 7:22pm On Nov 29, 2014
Full load mean you have to do a minimum of 30ects per semester(the total number of the credits of all courses).....if you are on free tuition program...anything less than that you will have to pay for your studies
