The United States has always been a point of target by the blackhat hackers, being the No 1 country in the World, they cannot but avoid. Just yesteday, the White House internal network was accessed by an unknown sources, even the White House Admininstration accepted it. Athough the activity of concern is not being used to enable a destructive cyber-attacks. The white house has been taking steps to detect the cyberthreat through various scans, though the breach did not damage the systems; but vital information might have been stolen.

No information have been given about who or the purpose of the hack, but the Washington Postreports that hackers working for Russia are thought to be behind the breach.

The White House official said “activity of concern” was detected while assessing numerous possible cyberthreats that the Executive Office of the President is made aware of daily. But thePost, on the other hand, reported that it was an “ally” who alerted officials to the hack. The White House declined to answer a specific question regarding how they detected the intrusion.

The situation was handled immediately and its still in process, although the new measures have led to temporary outages and loss of connectivity for some White House employees.

“The fact the White House was not able to detect the intrusion is disturbing and should be taken just as seriously as the lapses in security that recently allowed Dominic Adesanya to jump the fence at the White House and make it all the way to the North lawn,” Ken Westin, a security analyst at Tripwire, told Mashable. “Just because these attackers were not able to gain access to classified systems, doesn’t mean this intrusion should be taken lightly.”
