Attah To Jonathan: Expect Defection In Akwa Ibom PDP by technokid(m): 5:02pm On Oct 30, 2014
Former governor of Akwa Ibom State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in the state, Obong Victor Attah, has told President Goodluck Jonathan that if the way the party is managed in the state prevails, there might be split and defecction of members before the next election.

Attah made this known in Abuja yesterday at a media meeting he held alongside other party leaders from the state, including Chief Don Etiebet, former Petroleum Minister.

At the session where they addressed the media on what they called the grouses of the leaders against the way, they alleged Governor Godswill Akpabio managed the party, they said if things continued the way they were, there might be decampment to other parties.

In his separate address, Etiebet noted that there had been many cases of violent attacks in the party and against party members, and if the situation persisted before the next state party congress, there might not be any such congress and that would truncate the course of democracy in the state.

They stated that: “What we are saying today is the last effort we would undertake to ensure things improve or change for the better. But if nothing is done now, we cannot assure President Jonathan of a united PDP in the state or his chances of victory. No doubt, we are solidly for Mr. President but we won’t assure him of our support in 2015 because there will likely be defection of aggrieved members to another party.”

In a swift reaction, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Pastor Anietie Ukpe, in a statement, described the allegations as unfounded and an attempt to paint the governor in bad light for selfish political gains, challenging them to test their popularity and acceptance among the people instead of converging in Abuja to curry favour of the party leadership through the back door.

“The calls by the group for the sack of the Paul Ekpo-led party executive is the height of double standards because all were present at the congress that gave birth to the present leadership of the party in the state,” it stated.

Akpabio has made the state so uncomfortable politically! These men had better put up a better plan against what lies ahead because fowl cry will not help! Happenings in the state of late has shown that Akpabio and Paul Ekpo still holds the party structure intact, and that is what the presidency and PDP NWC wants! If there is one way Udom would not succeed Akpabio I bet you an Abuja Fowl cry is not the way!

They are bound to be ignored. Those two can't even win their wards in the state. Etiebet's own is the worst his power revolves around abuja.
