E and C I know for now will die..
C will die because A will do a backflip which makes him land on the otherside of the plank thereby making the sharp thornlike stuff underneath the plank pierce C and making the stone go up to hit E.. cheesy

D and B is safe.. when the stone pushed by E comes down on D, the cut part will be the part just covering his head.

Guy B and C dies, E gives a push, Rock rolls down to D who pulls himself down to save himself, Rolls outo C and raises other rock unto B and finally rest on C.

Nobody dies...

The curved out part on the upper ball makes it lighter than the ball on the other end of the scale. So it'll miss the head of the standing guy and won't have enough weight to lift the other stone. It'll end up rolling to the other side where the complete stone is.

My social scientific opinion. grin grin grin
You killed it....bravo! *clapping*

I'm so so impressed by this response! Tempted to start following you. Just don't know if you're always this smart or just got this one by chance. grin.

And you're not doing a great job on my following list undecided
Re: Who Dies In This Picture? by David0(m): 12:10pm On Nov 03, 2014
Well for me, everyone is safe provided E doesn't heartlessly push the stone.
But if E eventually push the stone, then D must be smart enough to bend down, cos there's no guarantee that cut-out part of the stone will hit his point.
If D bends then nobody dies.
But if D doesn't bend, then D may die, and E cannot be held responsible.
So OP, as long as the picture remains still as u posted it...everyone is safe.

Hope the puzzle is solved grin

Mr a dies
Re: Who Dies In This Picture? by ThierryJay: 2:06pm On Nov 03, 2014
Lmao funniest comments to a great puzzle. There's really no single answer as there are different possibilities based on different assumptions.

The most likely outcomes are;

1) Only B dies. as the wedge on the see-saw will likely catapult the high-velocity moving ball onto an unfortunate B. A seems out of reach.

2) Nobody dies if the ball does not have enough momentum to flip over the wall protecting B

3) B and C dies alone. B for the reasons stated above and C cos although the hollow ball has less weight than the other ball, it's momentum plus gravity gives it a greater thrust force which temporarily pushes the see-saw down enough to seal C's death wish.

D appears to be safe but there are other factors that may kill him. If the hollow part of the ball does not fit properly or the stoneball does not rotate down perfectly. But that E guy wicked pass Hitler sef .
Re: Who Dies In This Picture? by Xionez(m): 2:28pm On Nov 03, 2014
-D- would have headache / die from the force of the ball as it finally reaches ground state. He has like 32% chance of surviving if the hallow part of the ball lodges over his head.

-C- would give testimony if the weight of the first ball is smaller (less than 20kg) than the second ball.

-B- wouldn't even know what happened

-A- would surely be able to upload the event on YouTube due to the perfect vantage point!

As for E, he would have hospital/mortuary bills to pay for. Not including the funeral bills, insurance bills and pension plan for his victims family.

But it all depends on the mass of the ball which wasn't given.

lol...don't panic yet

It's nothing really, just relating what you told him to your own situation.

I followed you cos of your display of IT intellect in the programming section. Then you started speaking french sad

Codedboy95:
Let's call L the length of the slope : L = sqrt(4^2
+ 3^2) = 5 squares
R is the ball's radius : R = 1 square
The perimeter : P = 2*Pi*R = 6.28 squares
The "percentage of rolled ball on the slope" :
T = L/P = 0.796 = 79.6%
So the rolled angle A : A = T*360 = 286
degrees
Then, as the hole on the ball is hard to mesure with
squares, I used pixels. It's 25 pixels large, when 7
squares are 255 pixels large.
I got l the hole size (at the top) :
l = (7*25)/255 = 0.686 squares
So : the hole angle equals the angle in the top corner of
the isosceles triangle, wich have as base : the hole, and
as top corner the center of the ball. Trigonometry :
tan(a/2) = (l/2)/R
a/2 = arctan((l/2)/R)
= 0.33 radians
a/2 = 19 degrees
Finnaly :
A-a/2 = 267
A+a/2 = 305 degrees
and 180 < 267 < 305 < 360+180
"half turn" < "rolled angle +/- hole size" < "one and a half"
When the ball is above the D-man, it doesn't strand into
the hole. So D survives.

grin grin

I don't think I have a situation here. undecided

Anyway, IT is my profession. But I've got other things that turn me on too.

I know someone that was also active in the IT section but, of recent, spends almost the whole day in the travelling section especially on a thread about Nigerian students in UK.

Not my kind of thing but then, whatever rocks his boat!

Bonne soirée ! grin

A might die since the weight of the object up is probably 1/4th that below so the acceleration downwards will make the complete object to rise up a bit then descend with force making the cut off object to meet Mr A, releasing him from his misery
Re: Who Dies In This Picture? by thexzy(m): 4:29pm On Nov 03, 2014
It will interest you to know that ABE will Survive while CD will Die if and only if the mass of the incomplete stone is more than that of the other stone and if D is unconscious of the movement of the stone towards his head
