There is something perversely insane about our leadership, the country is facing an existential threat the very existence of Nigeria is being put to question and our supposed leaders are jostling for political offices, senatorial, gubernatorial, presidential, etc. INSANITY

For too long we have been fed a continuous meal of lies, deceit and subterfuge as it concerns the whole insurgency of Boko Haram in the North East.

How many of our brave warriors have been lost ? I suspect it’s in the number of thousands, it is clear that the NA has lost its will and capacity to fight. When well meaning Nigerians raised these issues years ago they were castigated as Boko sympathisers and traitors. Even on this forum it has been suggested that we say nothing about Boko highlight our very limited successes and pretend all is well that is simple IDIOTIC DELUSION. Boko has claimed territory for months and what are we doing about it ?

There has been much talk about arms procurement , we can be likened to farmer who got to his farm and decided to debate about what cutlass and hoe he will need to till and plant crops in the ground, SHEER MADNESS.

The NA it seems is out of its depth, stories abound of tactical retreats into Cameroon soldiers abandoning their bases and equipment and running and abandoning the civilians they swore to protect. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE NA.

This is not a political issue, the very existence of Nigeria as a nation is being put to question by these extremists so let’s stop the PDP and APC bashing and the unnecessary praise singing and sycophancy and face some HARSH FACTS we are currently failing as it concerns Boko and woefully.

On the news I watched a prison attacked by unknown armed men in Lokoja and numerous inmates freed. Whether it is Boko or not is not the issue but that anybody could attempt it and succeed that is very WORRYING. For how long has Boko been in possession of territory no longer operating a war of attrition, but almost open conventional warfare. They boko are setting up government institutions and people are talking about having political party conventions this is clearly more than ineptitude. For how long has boko been operating in Sambisa as their HQ largely untroubled and unopposed ?

Is our strategy wrong? Do our armed forces have the infrastructural capacity, communications connectivity and strategic vision with the required precision weaponry to successfully win this war, how many billions of $ have we spent and on what? Is it sabotage? Or painfully is it simply an issue of FAILED LEADERSHIP ?

"If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth 10 million words" Watched this video from Al Jazeera an Islamic news channel for those who hate the western media and it tells a very worrying story that is no longer deniable or one we can just sweep under the carpet.

Too many questions very few answers

Failure is the precursor to Success, the ability to accept, recognise, and admit to failings presents the opportunity to address those failings with Success.

Sabotage by most northern military personnel.

Northern Christians are being punished for voting GEJ in 2011.

The most disheartening aspect of this mess is that you are not even allowed to discuss the carnage going on in the north. If you dare to speak about it or try to empathize with the north easterners, you are termed a BH sympathizer. I wonder how we became so diabolically nonchalant as a nation all because of election.

No one really cares about the civilians and the military men being killed in these troubled spots daily. All we are bothered about is the 2015 elections. God help us!

The issues of this Insurgency should really be one dimensional and therefore simplistic in their remedy, however, vested perverse interests, political manoeuvrings and the main culprit CORRUPTION have made thus insurgency complicated beyond measure and solutions will have to be multifaceted.

There are three Solutions to the Boko haram problem, Military, Political & Deliberative democracy (getting the communities involved) , We have failed comprehensively on all fronts and as such I do not see this problem going away soon.

Assuming there was no support by Soviet Union, Egypt,Chad,Cameroon,Niger Rep, Sudan Rep and Britain how would the Nigerian Civil war had fared despite the Nigerian army using unorthodox fighting techniques which included bombing civilian targets , destruction of farmlands and water sources , could the Nigerian Army led by Gowon had succeeded in taming Biafra without any foreign support ?

Me thinks the Answer is obvious and it is responsible for the poor approach to Boko Haram and the dashing away of Bakassi to Cameroon with out a single gun shot

The issues of corruption have demoralised our troops, I admit that the existing weaponry though very far from modern is still enough to curtail the advances of Boko.

However, the endemic corruption and the penchant of our top brass to deploy more and more troops into theatre without the right weapons stations, nonchalantly on what seems more like suicide missions has created the continuous desertion and sometimes mutiny amongst our combatants.

Where are the new weapon stations and armaments this administration has been claiming its procuring, $Billions spent nothing to show but rusted old 70,80's APC's. Even if GEJ knows and that’s a big IF, he just hasn’t got the wherewithal or indeed the Liver, Heart and Kidney to challenge the top brass of the armed forces.

Thats not a matter of discussion but a simple FACT, we are not able to produce our own weaponry beyond a limited amount of light arms, so we have to procure from external suppliers.
