Hey dear. I apologise again.

Can you be specific with your question. What is it that you are scared of? I will then answer.

4. There is a high turnover. Expats resign once they cant take it anymore. The country itself can get to you. So some nationals cant cope.

Nope. I went home for that 2.5 months. Damn it was good. Just vacation for three months.

I will never work any summer holiday ever again. Its too hot, Ramadan, teaching is hard when pupils are hungry. Time better spent with family.

So vacation over there is 2.5 months?

Incredible

Yess its true. Expecially Americans. This place is too restrictive for some. But don't scared, there are people who have been here for 15yrs and more.

It all depends on why you came here. Also if you bring your wife, you can have a fulfilling life. If you are alone as a man, its hard.

Yes, it gets extremely hot in summer( June-August ), so vacation is long because of that.

That's fun for you den. But a medic colleague of mine used just a year there and I doubt if he came for a summer break. He also complained bitterly about the restrictions despite being a Muslim.

Hello guys, I salute the effort of the OP and all members of this thread, I really want to move to KSA before the end of this year in sha Allah, I am a graduate of mathematics but I have been working as an RF Drive Test Engineer (Telecommunication sector) since last year, pls I need someone to advice me on how to get this job more easily and quicker, I am satisfied with the restrictions over there, in fact its the major reason I want to go there, I will start applying for jobs posted on the telecom forums I have subscribed to online, and will also start taking steps on getting my Nigerian passport when I get my next salary, my wife is studying Medical Lab Sc to finish next year in sha Allah, pls I need someone to enlighten me more on the important things I need to be aware of to make this dream a reality soonest in sha Allah. Thank you.

hemmn and pls, on some of the job links I saw, it was written on the description that 'transferable iqama or ajeer is a must', don't know what that means o.

Women tongue tongue Thats gonna be tough for you. You cannot be roaming the streets with a woman you are not married to. If they catch you, the punishment is very harsh.

Some foreign family compounds ( estates ) are relaxed, you can perhaps get a woman there. Some foreign flats are segregated or have 24hr surveillence for people like you grin

Cigarette is all over. Alcohol, you can illegally find it, but hey you will be caught or maybe report by your supplier.

Pornsites are all blocked her, sorry. No porn for you.

Well you get used to it and create your own fun. Yes, your collegue was not exeggerating. Yes, alot of Muslims expecially from the UK, find it hard to cope here.

For medics, leave is calculated differently. For us in the academic sector, we have quiete generous breaks in between quater terms and a very generous summer break.

Take a look at the above posts with webpage addresses, they might help you. Only if you wanna go into the academic field.

Iqama is a work permit that your employer applies on your behalf to work here. The employer bears all the costs of relocation etc and they become our Mahrams especially for us women. Some employers refuse to hand people over to other employers because of the costs of relocating and recruiting one person.

Therefore they sort of "close iqama" meaning you cannot resign and join another employer. You have to resign, return to your country of origin and start the process all over again.

"Transferable Iqama" simply means transferable work permit. Eg. If you come with a wife and your wife is your dependant under your "Iqama", she can find a job while in Saudi, if she decides to take another offer, she is free to do it because her "Iqama" is transferable. She didnt arrive in Saudi through any company, but through the husband.

This is somehow modern day slavery, but it doesn't affect us that much. People resign and return to their home countries and start the process all over again.

@chinelosa

Omo I read this thread from beginning and all I can say is that you are wonderful. Everything you have said about saudi is true. I am currently here in najran, asir province and spent 8months. It's not been easy but life here is doable.

Am a doc with just 3yrs post grad experience and hoping to leave here in 2017 for the west and probably return in future. I have been to south Africa, Brazil, uk on visit visas in the past for conferences and I ve Ben exposed to public and global health.

Please do you know of any options for medical laboratory scientists in hail or riyadh? My wife to be studied that and I am really thinking if I will bring her here or not.

She won't be able to survive in najran grin grin grin especially with the new Yemeni bombings, anyways our wedding is next year december, so hope to be outta here before then!

Also, I was in riyadh for the first time last week, I went to renew my UK visa, omo that place was so lit and burriful. Very big contrast from where I am oo. But like you said in previous posts, these smaller cities like hail, najran etc have lesser problems as regards calmness and all.

Nice to see you here and let me know if it's okay to pm you for contact on whatsapp or bbm.

Godbless

Please can you give me details on how you processed and secured your MO job, Any chance of switching into residency training?
Thanks in advance

Hello NLers

Anyone working in Saudi Arabia?? How is life as a female and christian.

I decided to take a break from my studies next year for personal reasons that I cannot share. I decided to use my SA passport to my advantage as they only want SA, British, US, Ausralian, Canadian citizens.
I did one month TESOL course and then applied for English teaching jobs. To my suprise, I got responses.

They pay anything from $3000 - $6000 per month depending on experience and $6500 - $9000 when you possess Phd or Masters in English.
Accomodation is free, Medical insurance and transport is also provided and 30 days paid leave and round trip ticket to home country once per year.

I am skeptical to accept because of hearsay.

Are stories sansationalised or is Saudi Arabia really bad for a woman?

How is life on the ground in Saudi Arabia?
Anyone teaching in Saudi Arabia??

gud day ma, any job 4 somebody that study accounting or will d person need a professional study? m a Muslim though.

hello gud day sis chinello, pls I need you to help clarify this
I am an hnd holder in accounting, is it possible for me to write the telsa/delta exam with an hnd certificate? and can i get a teaching job or even work as an accountant with my hnd in saudi? or they only take degrees? do they recognise HND as a degree as well? because even here in nigeria, there are discriminations,I dont know if it happens over there as well
,
and secondly,I intend to come with my wife, but she is just an OND holder,is there any thing she can do over there, either with or without her qualification,im thinking she can start her degree online with any university in europe, but I dnt know,if upon completion of the online degree, maybe she'll be able to use it to teach in the kindgom, I await your response ma, and anybody that can answer my questions can also help, thank you and God bless

@esososa4real

What is the process to follow to practice as a Medical Lab Scientist?

esosa4real:

Please I beg you in the name of Almighty God, Don't accept it.
Most people doing such farm work here are poor Indians and sudanis and you can not imagine the human rights exploitation they go through. They usually cant go home until 3years has elapsed and the salary is small amongst many bad things I just cant say.

If you doubt me, kindly tell us all here the details of the contract.

NOTE: what was the agency self, as many agencies are hungry and wont tell you the truth. I only vouch for ONY VHA CONCEPTS.

I will re-iterate what I have said in the past, If you are not coming here as a Doctor, pharmacist, nurse, med lab, teacher or engineer, please I beg you if you want to live and not die in KSA, don't come oh!

I am speaking out of love, I work in the hospital and sometimes weep when I see the atrocities committed on poor Asians and African with manual job.
I am usually proud to tell my colleagues that I am yet to see a Nigerian in such circumstances though I have been told one or two gory stories but its not common because no Nigerian will come here and handle these wickedness. (pls I cant give examples, just GOOGLE).
