Since APC fans (like Barcanista) have successfully defended and justified Buhari's imprisonment of the great FELA KUTI, thus I'd like to hear their views on this.

After Buhari's coup in 1984 with 'corruption' given as excuse, EXECUTIVE President Shagari was placed under house arrest-never tried, while 'ordinary' Vice-President Alex Ekuweme was thrown into the harshest part of kirikiri prison.

What was the rationale behind this? If Shagari's governement was corrupt (according to Buhari) why was the principal and head of government (Shagari) not tried, convicted and thrown in jail?

Is this a sign of what to expect if Buhari is sworn in by May 29, 2015, selective justice?

VERY SIMPLE ANSWER: Ekuweme was an Igbo Christian while Shagari (like Buhari) was a Hausa/Fulani Muslim.

General Buhari was (and still is) an ethnic/religious bigot. End of story.

WHAT? Did those APC dudes actually defend Buhari's locking up of Fela on trumped up charges of excess foreign currency possession? Even when it was proven beyond reasonable doubt that the money allegedly found in Fela's possession belong to his entire band of almost 40 people?

I saw that thread on Front page but i never really read any of the comments.

As for me, Buhari na bad market any way u look at him.

The facilities in Ekwueme's cell were more plushy and comfortable than Shagari's house. Buhari made sure of that to make Shagari jealous of his vp

Buhari is obsessed with arrests. Personally i think he did it out of ethnic resentment, how could easterners who just survived a war hold the position of VP and the prospect to vie for presidency in the future. It is also worthy to note that ever since tnen, no fellow from the east has held that title(VP). #Team any other person until buhari cries like an infant.

He displays partiality and bias in everything, favouring kins men northern muslims.

Even in the execution of projects by the PTF under his chairmanship. PTF projects, funded by oil money, were virtually in the north. He left the southern states with almost no projects.

It is the same person that the APigShits are trying hard to sell to Nigerians as a messiah. The same tyrant they call incorruptible and just. It is a shame and an insult to the sensibility of Nigerians to associate him with justice.

Because he couldn't just imagine an "infidel" whose race should have been exterminated between 1967-70 being the VP.

As VP, did Dr Alex take any decision?

If there were cases of corruption, shouldn't the President be help responsible? Why lock the vice?

The truth is that, that gaped-teeth "Animal in human skin" never this day coming. A day when he would need to beg the same civilians he turned to "diplomatic crates" for democratic votes.

You need to educate yourself on the nature and distribution of PTF projects and stop spreading falsehood.

What Buhari achieved with the fund (which is nothing compared to the funds available to PDP and Jonathan) is more in quantity and quality compared to over 14yrs performance of PDP in the six geopolitical zones.
For example :
-When was the last time anyone received free drugs in any state or federal hospital after PTF drugs were finished? Parklane Hospital Enugu was still receiving drugs (ordered and paid for by PTF) even 3 years after the fund was wound down. Juo ese.
-When was the last time school libraries in the east and all over Nigeria re-stocked with books? Who did it?

Let Goodluck fix Umuahia-Ikot Ekepene, Aba-Ikot Ekepene, Enugu-Onitsha, Enugu -PH, Elele-Owerri roads na, since he is a lover of the East. Rapu okwu! Okwu aburo nri.

Ekweme was jailed yet the head of government, Shagari, his Fulani brother was enjoying house arrest for a few hours. It's only those who are plagued with paucity of knowledge on Nigerian history that waste their energy defending the 'holy general'. Knowledge is truly power.

Buhari is heartless biggooot, doesn't possess any good sense of of judgement. His unguided statements brought about lots of bloodsheds. He's desperate, seeking to devour oil money, empower his fulani brethren and restructure sharing formula when he get to power but that's his wildest fantacy

Buhari jailed Ekwueme because he believed that's where igbos nay Southerners belong. Buhari is a tribal and religious bigot and he will cry again cos free Nigeria belongs to all of us and not to a particular tribe or section of the country.

Another oft bandied lie of these Buharistans is that Buhari Ekwueme was jailed for corruption. Ekwueme was the first politician to be picked up by Buhai boys on the day of the Buhari coup-31 Dec 1983. Nothing incriminating was found on the guy. So, to incriminate him, Buhari sold a lie to Nigerians that $56,000 was found in Ekwueme's house. Till today, nobody apart from Buhari and perhaps, Idiagbon, his 2iC, saw that money. Other accused politicians were tried in the military tribunal and jailed. But Ekwueme was neither taken to a tribunal nor a court--not even a kangaroo one. For 20 months the man was jailed without trial. Later, a panel set up by IBB headed by Justice Uwaifo investigated Ekwueme and returned a verdict that politics made Ekwueme even poorer. He praised Ekwueme for his forthrightness. Till today, Ekwueme has never been found guilty of any crime in his days as Vice President.

Yet, these Buharistans keep passing off this gross abuse of fundamental human rights as an achievement. Too bad!
