A young Nigerian army officer Lt Mayowa Areago, (pictured below ) was shot dead three days ago while retreating from a mission to fight the Boko Haram in Borno state. According to his friends who sent in his photos, he graduated from Nigerian Defence Academy in 2012 and was immediately posted to the North to help in the fight against Boko Haram.


"Please help us appeal to the government to give our military the right weapons to defend this nation. Alot of innocent people have died to defend you and I. I really want all Nigerians to celebrate this young, gallant, combatant Nigerian Army officer. Rest in the bosom of the Lord "Area"' a friend said

These are the same people that will re-appear from no where to claim victory when others have done the dirty job.

Our soldiers in the war front are carrying rusty AK47 rifles like flipping guerrilla rebels from Somalia while those deployed to guard our politicians tote top of the range assault weapons. A sorry case of misplaced priorities.

Those of them that protest this sad situation are declared mutinous and sentenced to death.

Our soldiers have been reduced to kamikaze troops fighting and dying in an unwinnable war against a foe that continues to grow in confidence and strength just because it serves some politician's sinister agenda to remain in power by all means.

Give me an ak 47 and an M 16 I will take an.ak anytime any day...the weapons is not the problem..the users are I have seen countless military guys especially this (enter army from back door guys) who cant service their rifles properly hence jammings occur.....my only grudge with the military.is that scopes are cheap 2 buy to be placed on the rifle and how many mags do they now carry(a trooper) last time I checked it was just 7mags..every trooper should treat his rifle like his wife on the battle field.. the amount of servicing and cleanliness of a troopers rifle should be his pride as it is the difference between life and death......
