Even though I have uninstalled avast antivirus, whenever i'm trying to install kapersky, it complains of avast still installed on my system despite its been removed.
Please can someone help me!

how did you remove the avast?

u may have to delete d avast registry files b4 u can instal kaspersky
had d same prob wit avg wn i wanted to instal kaspersky

yes! u might v uninstald d avast bt y dnt u try doin it from safe mode? dependn on d operatn system u r using,4 vista,its under program files & 4 xp its under add & remove!

Normally this happens most times I suggest you download avast antivirus remover and reinstall kapersky hope this helps.

avast has its own uninstall utility[software] which you can download from the avast website. just follow the instructions, it will completely remove every trace of the antivirus. no need to go to the registry.

BTW: i can never use avast(it runs a lot on d background just like norton)sucks.
i prefer kaspersky or bitdefender

Avast, Norton, and McAfee has its own uninstall utility[software] like flyuche has said it all correctly when you are on normal mode using add & remove program does not work. Only on safe mode, it works using add & remove program.

You cannot install TWO anti-virus software on your computer/laptop, IT CONFLICTS!

Must have one ANTI-VIRUS software installing! That's why you must UNINSTALL Avast COMPLETELY before you can install Kapersky.

Many times I have done uninstall McAfee as well as Norton removing completely via safe mode on my client's laptop in order to install either Nod32 or Kapersky they want.

Sometimes on safe mode to uninstall McAfee/Norton does not work, therefore; alternative to use McAfee/Norton sites obtaining its own uninstall utility[software] download on client's laptop/computer to remove them before installing their desired anti-virus software. It works fine!

Thanks a mill guys, I was able to uninstall avast with avast uninstall program.
Unfortunately, my desktop is from Zinox and every time i try uninstalling the pre-installed Norton that came with it from their office, it kept asking me for a password.
I think the Norton was installed on their network which requires a password.
I have tried getting in touch with them but to no avail.
Please what do i do?

i cannot even go thru safe mode, every time i try safe mode the system only goes back to start booting again.

Use norton ghost 12 and boot your system. You can now copy out your files to another device like your flash and later format it.

Or Hirens boot cd

There's nothing to fear.just use an xp cd to repair installation.it's rare for kaspersky to crash systems.

Avira is the best Anti Virus for me ohhhhh, Avira kill almost 284 rats in my laptop

the easiest way to go about it is to search for "REGEDIT" on your system then click on "HKEY LOCAL MACHINE" THEN CLICK ON "SOFTWARE" AND THEN LOOK FOR AVAST FOLDER AND DELETE IT.THEN YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.THATS ALL.

here is a simple first step, remove ur harddisk and place in to an external hard disk casing and put it as usb into another laptop, u can scan it and also retrieve your files to the laptop andsave,
as for the avast uninstalll, obviously u uninstalled manually, next time go to add/remove program,
solution:
go to ur registry, (regedit.exe) from run
search for avast, and delete all entries
try reinstalling,
or download the registry file , disablereboot for kaspersky,

Steps to do the Manual

Go to Start ___ Click

Go to Run ____ Click

In Run Dialog_____ Type: regedit

It will open the Registry Editor

In the Registry Editor you will find 5 options of key name:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_USERS
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG

Click on : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

U will get some other option again just like below may be more:

HARDWARE
SAM
SECURITY
SOFTWARE
SYSTEM


Goto SOFTWARE_____ click

You will see the list of software's you have on your computer

Goto the software you want to remove___ Right click on it and click DELETE


You will be asked if you really want to delete the software and its subkeys

Choose YES if you want to BUT if not choose NO

Close the Registry

Goto the following

My Computer ____ C: or whatever name you give HardDrive____ Program Files____ AVAST Folder or the Folder you want to remove_____ DELETE

You can install the new Antivirus instantly or you may restart your computer then install.
___________________________________

NOTE: As it is easy for you to Fix problems via the Registry so it is to Add problem to the whole of your system. Don't mess up with what you don't.

NOTE: If you feel my steps are too complex you can try software like PIRIFORM CCLEANER. There are others too that can Fix that Problem.


NOTE: It will not remove all the software parts from your system  but it will allow you to install the new software.

If you want to remove all its part then you have to go through:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER

HKEY_USERS
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG

And remove its.

Please do not delete what you know nothing about.
