There are standard and non standard usages in Nigerian English at the syntactic and lexical level. This could be as a result of, article omission, tautology, influence of social structure coinage and expressions. Examples:
Non standard Standard
Don't reverse back your car Don't reverse your car
I hear English I understand English
We can't end up thanking God We can't stop thanking God
A trial will convince you A try will convince you
The rain beat me I was drenched by the rain
The accountant is not on seat The accountant is not available
I want to chase or toast that girl I want to woo or court that girl
