Am sure am going to draw a lot of flak for saying this, but I don't get the hype about law being so hard to study. I just don't get it. Tens of people I know study law from home. A pensioner living opposite my house is studying law at the Open University, he will graduate sometime next year. Earlier this year on the blogosphere, the trending news was that Ini edo and Desmond Elliot enrolled into the open University to study.... Guess what? Law!
If law was as difficult as its made out to be, retirees and nollywood folks won't even dare touch the course with a 40 ft pole.
No disrespect to lawyers and law students but am yet to see a random retiree or a celebrity going back to school to pick up a degree in medicine, engineering or say architecture.
There must be a reason for that I think.
seconded bro!! I ve been thinking what makes law a difficult course, law is one of the courses that is very easy to get admissin into they just have crk, literature, english to read to pass jamb n postjamb,no calculation atall
I have this cousin who hardly, she wrote her first jamb, went to postutme and scored very high and now her came out among the best at uniuyo,,can anyone rtead less and expect to admission into medicine and engineering course? well l believe its nigerian way of overhyping things

Medicine:
The fact that it involves human life makes it even more
challenging; it takes longer number of years than any
other course in Nigeria before they are tagged qualified as
it deals with human life, the students are compelled to
read heavy-weighted textbooks and they engage in
reading almost all the time . Passing MBBS is another ball
game and includes courses like Anatomy, Biochemistry ,
physiology, this poses a lot of worry to medical students ;
most of them even go for thanksgiving when they
eventually pass . Medicine as a course requires a lot of
commitment from the student considering the length of the
courses and examinations involved .
via: telegraph.co .uk
Chemistry:
This may sound easy and more fun when viewed from
practical sense but in a more academic sense it involves a
lot of math and physics making it more challenging to
study. It involves nomenclature, reactions , stoichiometry ,
molarity and thermochemistry and host of others .
Engineering:
As the name implies involves designing . “ Engine students
“ as they are fondly called take wide range of courses in
engineering faculty including petroleum engineering , civil
engineering , electric and electronic engineering and host
of others before they even get to the point of handling
courses specified for their department, and of course there
are lots of professional exams to go through before one is
qualified as a professional engineer to practice in Nigeria .
Law:
This requires a lot of skills and hard work. Law students
read a lot of written materials and must comprehend , and
accurately recall legal provisions and use the relevant law
in new situations. They must be able to take a logical
approach and apply knowledge to factual situations. It
also involves length of time , courses and examinations
while in school and after school before one could practice
as a professional.
via: telegraph.co .uk
Mathematics and Statistics:
At first when applying for this course , you could think it
will be easier to deal with , it will interest you to know that
abstract maths is not that easy , it is not just about being
good at calculations ; it involves estimations , calculus ,
geometrics and host of others . It is important that you
know that you may deal with calculations all through your
stay in the institution .
Architecture :
This is one of the most complex courses in faculty of
environmental sciences to study. A lot of time , people look
at it as a very easy course involving only the act of
drawing, it is important to know that it involves much
more than mere drawing and designing . On graduation
they are faced with lots of professional exams before they
are able to practice as a professional. add ur own

Re: Six Hardest Courses To Study In Nigeria by Nobody: 1:24pm On Nov 23, 2014
There is no such thing as a hard course. Every discipline has its pros and cons. The truth is that some courses require different preparatory methods than others. The way you prepare for a medicine course isn't the way you study for law. Most students do not even know how to prepare for examinations and that is a problem. For instance, I studied English and Literary Studies and most people that know this course will proclaim that it is one of the hardest (if not the hardest) course in the faculty of arts and humanities. However, this course was never ever difficult for me because I love reading. I read for sport and recreation and not because I want to pass. Reading gives me pleasure so whenever the lecturer comes to class and packs tons for novels and plays for us to read and poems to memorise and analyse, I get to it immediately. I use every blessed day of the week to ruminate the works and plan towards my exam analysis of the works. The same applies for other non-literature based courses. But there are some very intelligent folks that have no patience or motivation to read alot, they will say the course is hard and end up with a bad result.
This same rule applies for other courses. In Medicine, for instance, reading is technical. The aim of the course is not just to read and understand but to read, understand, apply, understand application, gain experience from it, read more, apply more, experience more. Any medical student that doesn't understand this protocol will hit a cul-de-sac no matter how intelligent (s)he is. In Law, the rule is slightly different as well. Here logical and critical reasoning becomes important. Rote learning(Cramming) is very essential for citation of cases. It goes beyond understanding. What you understand, you must defend. The defence is what will make it appear hard. Law is not speculative. I daresay it is close to science in nature and form. Your points must be provable, reusable and universal in all situations. Hence reading and studying is aimed at not just knowing but defending what you know so that a safe and universal conclusion may be reached.
In Engineering, emphasis is placed on practical knowledge and formulae. Studying for this course thus requires precision, concentration and attending classes/practicals. Students will not only read but study what has been practically done in the field so as to get a good grasp of his course. Students will use rote learning as well (cramming) coupled with understanding basic concepts together with practical knowledge in other to excel.
To sum up the bulk of what I am saying; NO COURSE IS DIFFICULT. It is true that some courses require more study and preparation than some. For instance, a student in Nursery and Primary Education may just read and understand whereas a medical student knows that this method will lead to his DOOM! The first thing every student must learn is how to study, prepare, reason and answer questions in his/her course. Without understanding this, everybody will say his or her course is difficult.
