This shows why we are backwards, Nigerian's go abroad and yearn for recongnition and respect yet those assumed to be seating in the house of congress who call themselfes Hon. Could climb the gate with their suit and tie. What a shame. For sentiments I see Nigerians leaving the issue to be addressed and pointing fingers. Two wrongs don't make a right. The fact that one is mad should not make the one who claims to be wise mad as well. As for me they are all wrong. But if actually the senate president did suspend seating, by the virtue of his office as the chairman. Then the house ought to have honoured it. Than to act lawless, like they did yesterday. People who claim they make laws. This shows the kind of people rulling this nation. PDP/ APC are the same. So people should stop shouting here for the sake of sentiments. To resolve this issue, let everyone consult the constitution and know what it says. Then whatever it says should be honoured. 8 Likes 1 Share |

BetaThings:I believe that a little understanding of legal processes would aid your case. This is no connexion between a putative infraction in Ondo State with a flagrant malfeasance by the leader of the lower chamber of the legislature. That a party elected to forgo the pursuit of a remedy for a suffered injury should not preclude another party from exercising their inalienable right. The court does not manufacture cases. 3 Likes |

i still find it unimaginable that a full grown person without suffering from dementia or any other brain disorder can give kudos to this administration. Everyday we wake up in the morning to see different shows of shame from the presidency, how can you pour so much anger on an honorable speaker because he expressed his fundamental human rights when there are people in this country that have committed crimes against humanity roaming freely and conducting their daily bombings in the north east. Some people in the south south have also threatened to bring the country to its knees if the incumbent is not reelected, yet the president appears to channel all his energy on finishing the political career of just one man. 2 Likes |

I wonder why he wants to eat his cake and have it. He said he wanted to save this nation that's why he defected yet he's still occupying the position he got under the. So-called "devilish" party. We know he left for APC because his oga wamako left. It has nothing to do with his love for this country or democracy. It is about the governorship of sokoto state. He should resign now to avoid being disgraced out of office like Gbagbo, charles Taylor, Gaddafi, Mubarak and the rest of them. 2 Likes |

I hear uninformed pple here compare Tambuwal to mimiko.Mimiko is a governor,Tambuwal was a house of rep member.Tambuwal noz wot d constitution says abt his 'trying 2eat his cake and hav it'.Remember dat Kwankwaso, wammako,Amaechi and co defected too,and dia was no one threatenin 2declare dia seats vacant because a governor is different 4rm a legislator.Tambuwal didnot only win elections under d PDP buh rose 2become d speaker under thesame pdp umbrella, now he feels 2smart and defected at d wrong tym.jst do d needful and honourably resign.dis is d 4th tym Tambuwal is defectin 4rm 1party 2anoda. 2 Likes

Re: For Peace To Reign In NASS, Tambuwal Should Resign - SAN by LivingSoul34: 4:20am On Nov 21, 2014 |
And this is supposed to be a constitutional Lawyer. You can advice Tambuwal to resign on moral ground but cannot ask the presidency on legal ground to seek redress in the law court. You see nothing wrong in police barricading the Assembly complex even without the consent of the senate president who is the chairman of the national Assembly and trying to stop Legislators from entering into the house to carry out their lawful duties but you see everything wrong with Legislators scaling the fence to go in, but “actions and reactions are equal and opposite” (Newton). How can the presidency and police be the accuser, the Judge and the enforcer of the law at the same time? What happens to the court that has the responsibility of interpreting the law? why is the presidency, and police so involved in what should be an internal affairs of the house even when the members are yet to sit over same let alone taking a decision? Perhaps, Ozekhome, “the constitutional Lawyer”, is yet to come across the doctrine of separation of power in the constitution of the land. Are the members of House so daft to know what the constitution of Nigeria and the House’s standing order/rules say in a situation like this? Assuming they are so bereft of ideas on how to handle their own affairs, I think the best PDP and the presidency should do in this case is to call on their members in the house and tell them what to do or approach a court of competent jurisdiction to order Tambuwal to vacate his seat and not resorting to this complete aberration. Justice is the only road that leads to peace and development hence for the overall interest of peace and the growth of democracy in the country, the Presidency, PDP, and the police should wait for the court to determine the fate of Tambuwal (ie if the members on their own cannot impeach him) and stop taking laws into their hands. 1 Like |
