If it is actually market strategy, then l don't have anyproblem with that. Afterall CBN has termed commercial banks' unrealistic targets to their marketers "bussness strategy".

I knew it was all marketing strategy.

1million cd sold,where,and when?

Brymo is right on that,after-all production isn't complete till the goods get to the final consumers.

Obaino is just a marketer who thought other distributors is the last link in the channels of distribution..

1million cds in one week to the final consumers,is what should be counted..

Next.
go the consumer house go dey count am na......beta stil, go dey open their respective DVDs to confirm if na Flavour dem dey play or not

Btw, in Economics, there is a huge contrast between Production and Sales

Production naim dem dey reason final consumers
Sales...dem don buy am, dem don buy am be dat....nobody wan care if na retailer or consumer buy am........

let me school you. The last link of production is the consumer..

Producer--Wholesaler--Retailer--consumers..

For production to take place, the goods must get to the final consumers,after-all,production is all about the creation of utility..

Not doubting if he actually sold 1million cds,but to other distributors shouldn't be counted.

School me? K

I repeat, there is a huge difference between PRODUCTION and SALES

Manufacturer sells to the Wholesaler sells to the Retailer sells to the Final Consumer.... Watz d key word there? Clue: Sells (SALES)

Who cares if it has gotten to the final consumer as in the case of Production?

We talk'n abt Sales here....not Production

Next time, don't argue with an ECONOMIST on issues as this.

Have I enlightened your ignorance, Sire?

I don't see why Brymo should be drinking paracetamol for flavour's headache, he should go and mind his biz cos even a 3 year old baby knows that deris nothing like sales statistic in naija music industry.

economically,we look at the unit sold to the final consumers, not one person ordering for large volumes..

In record sale, unit sold are taken into consideration, and not the ones sold a distributors.

No one counts sales from retailers for official sales records. What is used is the distribution copies shipped.

Because it is assumed that shipped copies by distribution is a reflection of demand from retailers in anticipation for the consumer's demand.

Go do research. If Obaino claims that one million copies have been shipped by distributors, then it can be believed.

It has nothing to do with copies purchased by the end users. It all about the anticipated demand....and the fact that Flavour will get paid based on this demand...

and for brymo, the guy should just chill...again, he has displayed his lack of self restraint. Wetin "consign" am if flavour dey sell 1 million copies? he dropped an album with no buzz and now he is trying to salvage his career.

Well a little economics for some of you.

Most distributors (of any product) worldwide usually count the numbers shipped to retailers as "sold".

It reflects that way on financial reports too, quarterly or yearly.

The logic behind it is that retailers make demands (of say CDs) from distributors/ marketers based on the anticipated and projected sales to end consumers.

The retailer who has had, let's say 200 people, walk into his shop and ask for Flavour Nabania's albums, in the absence of a concrete market research, would make an estimate of how many he could sell and order them from the distributor "at his own cost".

The distributor records this transaction as sales and the retailer records it as inventory in his shop and then hope to God that his estimation was correct and that customers would gobble the CDs up.

Since musicians deal with distributors and marketers and not necessarily retailers ( unless the artist sells his CDs himself), he would receive the good news from the distributor that his CDs have sold the number recorded as sales on the distributors balance sheet for that time frame, here 5 days.

Whether individuals buy his CDs or not, is now none of his business and any loss incurred, would be incurred by the retailer who would then increase or subsidize price based on end customers' demand index.

Hope this clears up some things.

Whether its true or not, Brymo is in no position to call it out in such a manner on twitter. Is the Nigerian public stupid enough not to know this is all smoke and mirrors? You are in the music industry, the last thing you want to do is start a beef with another artiste especially one who's currently red hot and popular worldwide; how does it improve your chance for a collab? Just be mute and let average Nigerians voice out their disbelieve, we have nothing to lose.
