Extension Of Emergency Rule, Will You Support Or Oppose It And Why? by yazach: 10:23am On Nov 21, 2014
May 14 2013, President Goodluck Jonathan declared state of emergency in Yobe, Borno, and Adamawa states to deal with the insurgency that was eating deep into Nigeria through the mentioned states. Despite the declaration of the emergency rule till today we continue witnessing death of thousands of innocent Nigerians, as a result of this, one will conclude that the declaration of emergency rule in those states has no positive impact in curbing the insurgency. But recently, the federal government has called for extension of emergency rule in the state and some Nigerians opposed it stating the fact that no positive result has been achieved so their is no need for extension but some still agree that it should be extend. The question now is:

Should emergency rule be extended in those states or not and what is the reason for your answer?

Rejection of emergency rule is like saying that because the pen.is of the tortoise is small, it should not marry or make love. It has not given the desired result doesn't mean its not serving purpose.

Our politicians are playing politics with the destiny of this nation. The chances of a election in february is very slim...if the election holds, it will be far from being peaceful, no thanks to our DESPERADOES.

I support emergency rule, no matter how lame it is because it is the reason, Bokoharam has not over run the whole country and declared their own republic. Bokoharam is CONQUEST in nature. I have been a critic of those who think or says our soldiers are incompetent...Withdraw those soldiers for one week and see if there will be a country called Nigeria anymore.

Finally, if there is no emergency rule in those states, we should forget election next year. By January, Bokoharam would have reached Edo, Ibadan, Enugu and portharcourt.

The Northeast is still where the battle ground is, if we cant eliminate them, let us contain them there.

my two penny please

No, Yaradua do not declare SOE, within weeks the soldiers deployed suppresed the insurgency. Contrarily, under SOE[3x], under Gejs watch, a group of ragtag insurgents metamorphosise into a full pledge army defeating the Nigerian soldiers.

With help of the locals, cjtf & hunters and implementation of section 8 of the armed forces act, Boko Haram will not last another month.

I strongly OPPOSE it,because Mr PRESIDENT is invested with the power to deploy troops to any trouble region in the country
but Mr president choose state of emergenzy because he knows he is going to loose in this 3 states and he doesnt want election to be conducted there to avoid defeat, beside we are just reading and hearing propanganda news in the south, this 3 state are not so bad to the extend of not conducting election there

The moment Bokoharam start wearing Army uniform, SOE is useless. Enough of it. There is nothing to extend .

SOE is a propaganda of GEJ.....
Another drain pipe of the economy....

I support the motion of the extension of emergency Rule, if it can contain the insurgents within the 3 states.

*My bro. Here as said it all but I pray it doesn't reach other states before it is contained and eternally curtailed.

The way I see it, if SOE continues....It means those states will be excluded from the election next year.
And I do think majority of people in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe will vote the opposition.

So allowing SOE will mean reducing some of the opposition votes.

And just because the president is from the south, they say he is the sponsor of Boko haram... Awon werey. I support the declaration of full state of emergency in the north and the appointment of military sole administrators in those states until their people and leaders alike have sense.
