Reps To Consider Emergency Rule Extension On December 3 by Seun(m): 10:34am On Nov 21, 2014
THE House of Representatives, on Thursday, deferred consideration of extension of emergency rule in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.

Deputy House Leader, Honourable Leo Ogor, had moved a motion on the extension of emergency rule in the three states under Boko Haram attack.

Following Ogor’s motion, members, who were charged by the treatment meted out to the Speaker, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, by the combined security operatives at the entrance of the National Assembly, quickly moved that the motion should be debated in open, but the Speaker quickly called for an executive session to douse the tension.

Earlier before the session, the Senate President, David Mark, had come to the House of Representatives chamber to probably get first hand information from the Speaker, but was assaulted by some members, including Honourable Aliyu Gebi, who surged at him in annoyance.

At the closed-door session, Nigerian Tribune gathered that the Speaker pleaded with members not to use that mindset to vote against the request for the extension of emergency rule in the affected states.

Nigerian Tribune further learnt that it was at the executive session that members agreed that the president’s request be put on hold till the House resumes on December 3.

At a media briefing, chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Zakari Mohammed, condemned in its entirety the action of the security operatives on the speaker and some members.

The chairman, who briefed newsmen on the position of the House, stated that it was unfortunate that security could prevent lawmakers from performing their lawful duties.

According to him, “the National Assembly is not state assembly where illegality thrives. We are to set standard. We would resist all attempt to prevent us from coming in,” he said.

The state of emergency have had little or no effects since it was declared. the only effects we have seen so far is some Generals pockets and bank accounts getting fatter, over 200 missing girls, little kids bombed to death like chickens, gallant soldiers and officers being killed like rams...etc. When the FG and the Nigerian military top brass really wants to end this madness, it will take them less than a month. for now its all about political gains and money.

if mr incompetence is not impeached;
we will surely kick him out on lovers day next year!

vote for CHANGE!!!

What's there to consider? Emergency rule should be on till after election in 2015, though it has not curb those guys from their evil acts.

IMHO, Even if you declare state of emergency on the entire country. With rusty AK 47s(weapons generally), Absence of superior intelligence gathering, Low moral, clueless top army officials, Presence of moles e.t.c, The insurgency may not stop.

We shall see what they will decide on Tuesday Hope fully they will make a right decision for those living in those states and not a decision for their own selfish interests.
