REVERIE

Wake me up from the nightmares of my sleep..
Illusions of vehemence and intrusion..
Help me to face up to the reality..
To forbid the pain that I'm suffering..
She was an innocent damsel..
A by-standing suffragette..
An angel caught up in a daze..
She fell into his eyes..
Enraptured and hypnotized..
She pranced into his jive..
She was my sunshine, the brightest spark..
Young enough to know the road she had chosen..
He grasp her hand and led her to the pitch-dark..
He toyed around with her emotions..
He entrapped her virtue and purity..
Offered no recompense nor sanity..
Left her feeling tarnish and fouled..
Built up pains from the inside..
Hide all the tears she cried..
Away from this  world..
I just want to have her held to make things alright..
To mummify the distress of bad memories..
To give her the comfort she needs to get..
To help her pull through all the misery..
If I could just take away the torment ..
To just take away the shame for a moment..
Casting its shadow in her heart..
Creating the crystal tears..
It hurts me to see her fear..
It hurts me to see her cry so hard..
My adored priceless belle,I'll always be here..
When you need a shoulder to cry on..
When life's an illusion within a blank stare..
And memories can't be relied on..
I'll open my arms to embrace you..
To share with you all the pain..
I'll cry the same tears from my eyes..
I'll renew your innocence..
Cleanse out your inner sense..
I will return your smile..
Let out the anger that's built up inside..
Let your instincts go on the rampage..
Scream at the rain, scream into the night..
Scream out the emotional wreckage..
Then roar your triumph..
At the unapologetic and unsympathetic world..
Unwise to the heartache you've been through..
They may not know your pain..
But of course I do..

it seems I've been away for long, missed all the action. Poetry Club? Cool concept, its time poetry got its fair share of attention and appreciation on NL. Kudos to the originators. Good morning all.

ASPHYXIATION- I'M CHOKING
It’s tearing me apart like a Lion
Stuck in my own Albion,
I’m choking; all I see is Riots.
Who’s gonna take us to Zion?
Kids being killed and women turned Widows.
Iraq and Hamas; Israel synonym with Sorrow.
Peace; none to even Borrow
I’m choking; dear Lord, oh no!
Chaos is the order of the Day,
I’m choking, I don’t know what to Say.
After the tunnel, there must be a Ray.
Presently that seems far Away.
I’m choking; Asphyxia
New killer on the block; Ebola
Panic all over West Africa,
Tears in my eyes, I Ask
God; where hath Thou?
I’m choking; please let me Out
So much pain, I want to get it Out
Words forming in my tongue; no Sound.
I’m choking; Asphyxiation
No shoulder for Consolation.
I’m choking;
This is a call of Desperation.

*dedicated to those kids in iraq, Nigeria, hamas and israel..collateral damage; stuck in a war they know nothing of. Abducted, raped, slaughtered.I’m choking!

Awww... The club chat thread.

Somewhere far from the NL e-craze
Lives a muse trapped in an icy heart.
Yet somewhere through solitude's maze
Lies poetry the true path.

Somewhere beyond the sharpest bend,
Stands tall, a rascally pen on giant tome
Yes somewhere at the end
There's a place called home.

*spreads customised mat*

Now where's my chalk and slate?

After the wandering of a soul
Searching for respite
Finally my weary heart can sing...
This is home!

I'm loving all the poems I'm reading here... Keep it up guys!

Lekan and Oma4u, please keep the fire burning.

LADY OF THE LAKE

Jerry Okeowo
May 27, 2011

Paving through the sharps of the forest,
Frail, frantic and flailing,
Unaware of the path to explore,
I can only go beyond and forget,

Boulder-dashed, which led me to the still waters,
Like a zephyr in a vacuum,
I dropped the world off my shoulder;
To have a sip which might be my very last,
-Taking every gulp with ease, like an Iguana,
-It stretched my muscles, like the neck of an Ilama,
Almost out of space,
Until I made a sudden flush from the flinch of a
frangipani,

I turned and behold a perfect figure,
With eyes like pearls and hair strands like wool,
With bosoms like pines and neck like stem,
Moderately sealed in a mild and tender skin like
cinnamon,
Wonderfully created to give every head a bolt of
thunder at sight,

Mustering all the courage I could get,
I gave her my blue-eyed-faithful look,

Praising the path I had come by,
And showing inward gratitude to the monsters that
chased me nigh,
Bursting out with an enchanted smile,
She took my hand and I held her's tight,
Paving through the lillies by the lake:
I was led to the fountain of sweet waters,
To have a sip which might be the threshold of an aura.

LONE RANGER

Jerry Okeowo
May 7, 2010

Sitting in the world's extreme corner,
Like a lone mat-weaver
Neither distraction nor focus conceals me,
But mysterious patterns I conceive.

Like a madman chasing nothing;
My brain works tirelessly
And only feels distress at rest,
Tumor knocks at the door to my head,
But only gets a chance at the market place,
Breeze, Beach, Beam
Where comfort delights my soul,

For exhibitions, many wish they were me,
Not if they could see the inside of my unhappiness,

Eyes the shady night will shut,
And ears the earth will stop,
To lay the stage for the nocturnal dreamweaver,
And welcome the lone ranger into another world of
loneliness.

WRY SMILE OF SORROW

Jerry Okeowo
July 3, 2012

Curfew of fear keeps me from flying,
Like a whithered feather unfit for flight,
None but I could understand my plight;
That someday I might look at my scar,
And pity the dent in my spine,

The sting of adversity that struck in the melee
Has made birds of a feather flock separately,
Like a rigid piece of poo that wouldn't flush,
Firmly; Thoughts dangle in my heart like a golden
cross;
Extinction has now become a thing of adoration,
And nothing feels more exciting than being banished,
For I could only see death as a prerequisite to a
soothing rest,
Most controversial; I would rather it to a milky bed,

Now, jamming vibes of sad instrumental,
Fills my soul like dirt on a rusty metal,
That I will fall a pretty pink petal,
Is nothing but a dream of a routeless magi,

Though I hear;
None would spare
The joy they've got to share,
Yet;
I crave to get in any way
It's spoils, dumped in the mud and has been left to rot,

But, Alas! The fields of peace have been emptied
And the debris of hope, buried,
For if it hadn't;
It would have been that i've found a diamond cherry,
In the host of Gaia berries,
But, the drama of joy without the crew of glory,
Is like a merry ferry heading for its peril,

Had I known;
The anguish the cock will later crow,
I would have painted my last true smile.

THE LONELY SOUL

Jerry Okeowo
May 6, 2010

The deceased has brought me thus;
Into the hands of the lackadaisic ones,
Giving me the reversal of grass to grace

Maybe its my fate,
But still trying to survive
Paving way in the dark,
Made me remember my past;
When I was like a king in a kingdom,
Cherished like the Gold of Galam,
Now, unworthy like the Trash of Trinidad

Absolutely transient,

Being raised in a palace
And ending up in a cold arctic,
Being a presage to the people around me,
Dreaming of wraiths and rats,
And not even the sun to dry up my tears.

Its dark n the night is still young, my ideas are bright and
quite long with the right strong words..Yesterday is
history, Today is mystery, I will preach the words of
forgiveness and faithfulness, I will sing songs of holiness
and righteousness, I will write about lust and love, I will
scream with melody and harmony with words sweet to the
soul like a fresh honey....I will travel from east to west to
south from north.....I will put smiles of faces starting from
mine till the end of time...I will create histories, I will
meet the rich, I will make the poor happy n fulfil their
wishes, I will be like odds of tambo mbeki, nelson mandela,
desmond tutu, even barrack obama,...I will love like jack n
rose n my relationSHIP won't sink like the titanic,I will
tour the world starting from the atlantic to the pacific....I
will stick to my day one brothers, I will glue to my real
brothers, I will respect my elders, I will bless my haters
and I will love my partner....I will die on my sick bed when
the time comes and the light will bright up the night and
the beautiful works of mine will be permanent like a scar
on a skin and a mark on a stone....I will, I MUST.......

see my lovers, they are in lust, I see my haters, they are
nuts...they're going crazy, the beefing me n my crew the
can't even cook n spice it, they just lazy..I see my
mother's fears, They are real, I see my mother's tears
they are rare..I see a tender smile...the said a journey of a
thousand mile starts with a step, I see my bright future
few steps away, so I got myself an elevator...I am a
justice creator, I see my future self, the kids'
mentor........ I see the light, its bright and white, I see the
night, its dark n evil,...I see young bloods doing drugs for
wealth, I see death....I see thin things that will ruin
things..I cry...look up to the sky n tell me what you see.....

I missed my first love
*I missed the way I was scared to speak to her
*Is it to hug or kiss,my thousands fear
*I missed my favourite words-is it I love you or?
*I missed my feelings
*I missed my heart
*Fainting Home alone cos I wanna see you
*I missed how I treat you
*How we made love
*How we spoke with each others
*I missed my emotions
*I missed the tears I shed
*I missed the promise I made--Is it to marry you or
never to leave you
*I remember the day I saw you
*Just with another man
*I remember all the promises and tears
*This make me ask the question
*Is it lost or love?
