Do You Talk To Yourself? by 5minsmadness: 3:27pm On Nov 24, 2014
I almost knocked a guy down this morning on my way to work. He was walking along the street and discussing vehemently with himself. The finny thing is this guy was clean, well shaved, suited up, shoes polished, he might have been a banker for all I knew.
Anyway he apologized and I apologised back and we went our merry ways. But I kept wondering what he was discussing with himself that he wasn't looking where he was going.

I also catch some of my colleagues and friends mumbling amicably and some even smile for no reason

Do you talk to yourself? And if yes, what do you talk about?

Op, have you seen everybody hates chris? There was an episode where chris' mum was looking at the mirror and scolding herself, I do that a lot, without the mirror though.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it

According to studies, talking to
yourself can actually benefit thinking and
perception and boost your brainpower. Giving
yourself verbal messages can help you learn and
perform at your best, increase your concentration,
and improve performance, the studies showed.

Talking out loud is simply vocalising your internal
thought process or dialogue.

Experts are revealing that giving yourself verbal
instructions helps to enhance attention and keeps
you focused while reducing distractions. It also
helps you to be more decisive and allows you to
control your thoughts and cognitive and emotional
reactions, helping you stay on task.

True and this is why school children who have difficulties concentrating are encouraged to talk while performing (complex) tasks.

Yes, I do, but only in private. I do so when I start getting scared of stuff, or when someone tries to bring me down. I wish I had started earlier, cos it works on my mind instantly when I do.

There is a book titled " what to say when talking to yourself" if you read it you will understand better. People who speak positive things to themselves attract those things literally.

Seems someone has been reading a whole lot of Christian motivational books....

Does it mean you'll get what you want by pacing up and down the house screaming "I SHALL HAVE IT.....I SHALL HAVE IT"…You can actually get it by serious determination and working towards achieving it....not by increasing the population of mad men.

the formula here is your programming determines your Thoughts which decides your beliefs which bring about your actions and gives you result.
Then again you have to have a mental picture about where you are going to before you determine to get there. Visualisation and speaking it out just makes you more determined to get there. It's like inducing the results you want on your mind so much that it figures out ways to achieve it.

Yea. I do . But not out loud.
Sometimes I'm like
" forgive me if I don't talk much. It is already loud enough in my head."

Yes most thing I think I discussed are too analytic. And most time I hit conclusion before stopping. Besides I find solace talking to my self more than any other person
