The MasterCard index reveals that 1.3 million international overnight visitors are expected to have visited Lagos by the end of this year, up by 5.8 percent from the 1.25 million in 2013, putting Lagos in the 4th position while South African cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town come in at first and second places as the most popular destination cities. Jo’burg and Cape Town, as far as international overnight visitors ranking goes, have attracted 4.2 million and 1.6 million visitors in 2014 respectively. Egypt’s Cairo (1.35 million) and Casablanca in Morocco (982,219) occupy the third and fifth place on the index in terms of international visitors.

The madness and crave to visit lagos by non natives is the Achilles Heels why Lagos has found it hard to reach its full optimal state.

Lagos would have been a New York, London Cairo and Joburg if the Population it supports is commensurate with the resources available to it.

Imagine a small enclave carrying a whole 20million peoples and counting daily. Kudos to the Governors of Lagos past and present for the way they have provided meaningful and purposeful leadership in the state.

Imagine lAgos with Fashola having the kind of resources available to an Akpabio who earns more revenue has more help from NDDC, 13% derivation, ministry of Niger Delta and yet has just 5million people to cater for yet its people are still running out in droves to this overburdened lagos for better quality of life.

Kudos to fashola and the APC for the spirit and believe of Lagos . You and your crew made we Lagosians proud .
