The fact that Sanders will increase the tax rates on the middle class is the bone of contention for most "undecided voters". Most people are comfortable with their private health insurance plans, and wouldn't want to bear a 4% increase in taxes. Getting rid of private health insurance companies will throw close to a million people into the labor market.

To be fair, Secretary Clinton is a more pragmatic politician. She will never advocate for a single-payer system if she becomes President; or call for tuition-free college education because she isn't naive to believe that a likely Republican-dominated Congress will give those Democratic-socialist proposals the light of day. Of course, things could change if the Senate and House are dominate by Liberals next year.

I think Rubio would be a formidable general election opponent to HRC. He is beating her in hypothetical match-ups by over 5 points in the various polls. It could be the reason why Democrats want Trump to be the GOP nominee. Both Clinton and Sanders are either beating him, or tying him in the same hypo polls.

Moreover, Trump would be absolutely clobbered in a general election debate with either Dem candidate, as he hasn't developed any coherent policy proposal in any area.

Even $10-12 will probably cause small business to have to close or raise their prices to compensate for paying higher wages. In the end all it will do is make us pay more for goods and services to pay the difference.
