Christie peaked too soon way before the primaries and lost momentum already. New pools suggests Nevada will be close but Hilary will win. This is based on the fact that it is going to be another caucus. What do you think?

Clinton needs a decisive victory. Another 'virtual tie' would seriously dent her bid. I believe the demographic make up of Nevada (greater number of minorities and women), coupled with the fact that independents can't vote in the caucus, should hand her a solid win.

Bernie can only win, at most, 6 or 7 other states.

I had the same thought until i read an article which actually makes sense. White voters go to Caucuses more than minority voters and the last caucus demographics in Nevada, only had 15% Latinos (even thou make over 40% of the state) and about the same black voters (Obama effect which Hilary does not have)voted. and Clinton is only leading Sanders but 10-12 points among Latinos

Should be interesting. Her loss yesterday was monumental thou. Over 20 points. I heard it was the first time someone will lose that big in NH since 1956

Should the result the close in Nevada, anything can happen from there Bernie's 6 to 7 state projection might change.

^^
Trump's 19-point victory is also 'yuuge' grin

If the Black voters don't turn up enmasse, a plan B would surely be to drive up Latino participation at the caucus. But Blacks, in general, still hold the Clinton's in high esteem. And Hillary's team would do well to woo older minorities and women, as the younger portions of those demographic groups voted overwhelmingly for Sanders in NH.
Either way, it will be fascinating to watch.

Carson, Fiorina, Gilmore and Christie should drop out of the race ASAP.
Re: American Politics Lounge - Donald Trump Is US President-Elect ! by Nobody: 8:15am On Feb 12, 2016
Carly Fiorina and Chris Christie have dropped out of the race. For Christie, the writing was on the wall when he finished 6th in a state he had virtually camped in for weeks before the primary.
Re: American Politics Lounge - Donald Trump Is US President-Elect ! by Nobody: 8:17am On Feb 12, 2016
I predict the next two candidates to drop out would be Carson and Gilmore. Both could drop out before the February 20 South Carolina primary.

I had a good laugh this morning, going from news outlets to the other over his death, many did leave nice comments for the dead.Man was a pain in the a** to liberals.

Republicans were quick to showing their hypocrisy, coming out boldly insisting Obama should leave scalia's SCOTUS seat vacant till the next administration comes to power.Everyone knows the GOP will block any liberal justice as fast as blowing out a candle. They make it sound as if they know they would produce the next POTUS come november.Crazy set of folks gringrin

Even if Hillary or Bernie become win the election, the Republicans could still block the confirmation of a liberal judge if they maintain their majority in the Senate. The only iron-cast guarantee of a liberal judge being confirmed by the next Senate would be a Democratic-majority Senate, 50-50 split or Republicans holding a slim majority (say 52-48) with some moderate or liberal Republican Senators amongst their ranks.

Right now, no liberal judge nominee would be confirmed by a Mitch McConnell-led Senate.

I don't know his stance on immigration, but I know he was not an advocate of the Roe v Wade decision.

On the last republican debate :

Sick of the republicans. Jeb Bush saying “my brother kept us safe” is total B.S. He destabilized the ME making us less safe. Having to divert every penny to his worthless invasions, he cut spending by 10% at every military base, weakening the military. Marco Rubio using Colin Powell’s presentation to the UN to support the legitimacy of the invasions is laughable, given Colin Powell has apologized for his involvement in perpetuating the lies. Kasich talking about women’s rights is laughable. given he defunded Planned Parenthood in Ohio. Ted Cruz is beyond scary. He will have us in a religious war everywhere his brand of “religion” doesn’t exist.

Couldn't have said it better. But you have to know that the candidates (except Trump) had to pander to South Carolina voters by extolling GW Bush. G.W. Bush is very popular in South Carolina, and even has an 88% favorability rating among Republicans nationally. So, the likes of Rubio, Jeb, and Cruz played it smart by not holding Bush 43 to account on the Iraq war.

As for Kasich, I doubt if PP would be a major issue in the general election. His stance on public funding of PP may just be a foot-note if he is tapped to be the GOP VP nominee. Moreover, he is very popular amongst Ohioans, so he won't be a risky running-mate pick at all.

Ted Cruz won't win the GOP nomination because the GOP elite view him as an unhinged conservative. The nomination race is 'really' between Jeb Bush and Rubio. I suspect the establishment will select Rubio because, like Hillary, he is a big government fan straddles the Tea party and moderate wings of the party. Also, Rubio would be the perfect "fresh face" for voters to convince voters to believe the illusion that a 'nobody' can rise to the pinnacle of US politics solely by dint of hard work. There is a high probability that voters would be turned off if the general election is a Clinton v Bush contest.

Jeb Bush has too much baggage of being the brother of a president who made the biggest American foreign policy blunder since the Vietnam quagmire.

Very true. There have been speculations on likely nominees, there's this Minnesota Senator I read about, don't recall her name. The republican Senate might have less problem with her as compared to Sri Srinivan.Am sure Obama will appoint someone who can be regarded as an independent or someone fairly appealing to the republican senators, cause definitely there's no way Obama would appoint a conservative. It's either a liberal or an independent.

One way or the other even if Obama's nominations don't scale through,American voters will see such action by the republicans as an hinderance to democracy especially when there are cases like the abortion case scheduled for hearing this march, speculations are the judgement may be a 4-4 judgement should that seat remain vacant till then.

Eventually a concensus has to be reached on the appointment be it an Obama administration or a Hilary or Bernie's government.

I suspect that Obama would nominate a liberal just to spite the Republicans, and gin up the Liberal base. Unlike the 2014 midterms, the Dems will win the election by running ads blaming Republican obstruction for the SC vacancy, if the Republicans stone-wall the confirmation hearing.

This would make a very good opening for democrats to peneterate young and middle aged republican voters. We'll wait and watch it all unfold.

The Nevada Republican caucuses hold today.

And the CNN Democratic townhall debate also holds today in South Carolina.

And Donald Trump has won the Nevada caucuses! He is now 3-1 in the four early state contests, and this is the first caucus he has won.

But both Rubio and Cruz will get a share of the Nevada Republican delegates because the delegates are awarded proportionally in the state.

I still don't think he will get the nomination. Stranger things have happened in politics; I recall that Gingrich won the SC primary 4 years ago, but didn't clinch the nomination.

Besides, the Republican 'establishment' will go for broke between now and Super Tuesday and beyond. Backing Rubio, the establishment will throw every jab towards Trump. I won't be surprised to see both Rubio and Cruz directing all their attack ads towards Trump, instead of each other.

Moreover, Rubio, with the exception of the NH primary, has been winning the "electability' contest in the primaries so far; just as a certain Romney did in 2012. So, sooner or later, Rubio's participation trophies would turn to actual wins in the Midwest, Florida and some other states.

Trump's nomination will give the Democrats the easiest win ever. Super Tuesday should be interesting indeed.

Absolutely. If Trump wins 8 out of the 12 states and a majority of the delegates on Tuesday, it will be effectively game over for Rubio and Cruz.

The quality of candidates this season is really terrible honestly. From scandal prone Hilary, socialist sanders, nut case ted cruz ( This nutcase actually thinks Phil Robertson is a good idea to be an ambassador in the UN), lady Carson and a comedian like Trump.
