Ghana Navy has been adjudged the best navy
in the West Africa sub-region by a renowned
international security agency, World Security
Watch.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral
Geoffery Mawuli Biekro, who disclosed this,
said the achievement was based on discipline,
hard work and commitment exhibited by the
personnel who also as provided quality
surveillance on the country’s maritime domain.
He therefore entreated the personnel not to
rest on their oars but rather, strive for higher
successes in the coming years to enhance the
maritime security of the country for
accelerated national development.
Rear Admiral Biekro made this known at this
year’s Administrative Inspection parade by the
Western Naval Command in Sekondi on Friday.
The event was aimed at assessing the
operational readiness and performance of the
Command, as well as to take stock of its
challenges and plan the way forward.
Rear Admiral Biekro reviewed the parade that
comprised 188 ratings and 60 officers, who
displayed matching skills and drills with
dexterity, to the admiration of the civilian
population that thronged the Sekondi Naval
Base to witness the biennial ceremony.
He advised the officers who had just retired
from the Service to exercise extreme caution
when investing their monies in any venture to
avoid being defrauded or short changed.
He urged the retirees to seek sound financial
advice from financial experts so as to
safeguard their investments.

housing units would be allocated to the Navy
when the Ministry of Works, Housing and
Water Resources completes its housing project,
to improve acute accommodation situation
faced by the military.
He gave the assurance that a number of
projects are being executed by the government
to improve on the operational, administrative
and welfare of personnel, saying “a healthy
mind lives in a healthy body”.
According to him, an electronic security
surveillance device had been secured by the
navy, to improve surveillance of the country’s
territorial waters, to halt illicit drug trading,
piracy, bunkering and any other illegal
activities being undertaken on the high seas.
He commended the Western Naval Command
for judicious use of resources and providing
excellent security over the years and,
therefore, charged them to maintain the
momentum.

headquarters presented four buses to the
Command for its operational and
administrative purposes.
The Flag Officer Commanding the Western
Naval Command, Commodore Godson Kwablay

Ghanian Navy can't be the best in the region whilst Nigeria is still existing as a nation. Nigeria is miles ahead of them.

While i hold absolute nothing against ghanaians,i seriously doubt that ghana's navy is near the best in west africa.the nigerian navy operates in the whole gulf of guinea{from equatorial guinea to sierra leone} guarding the whole of ECOWAS coastal waters.even established african navies like the south african navy{SAN} and egyptian navy,find themselves challenged and matched by the nigerian navy.the ghanaian navy doesnt even come close to equitorial guinea's navy.

producing
field in Nigeria into a bigger vessel, MV
North
Wind Grace but the Captain and the crew
conspired to hijack it while laden with crude
oil.
They said they began to trace the vessel and
alerted the Benin and Ghanaian Security.
They said they informed Mr Aboagye about
the
incident, who confirmed that the Vessel was
at
SPOCL and they pleaded with him to detain
the
vessel until the navy moved in to arrest it.
The ghana navy received hint from its
Nigerian
counterparts about the vessel and
zoomed in to
make the arrest.
