Atiku Leads APC Poll With Wide Margin - Dailypost Poll by bilms(m): 1:05pm On Dec 06, 2014
If DAILY POST readers were to be delegates that will populate the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress, APC slated for December 10 and 11, 2014, former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, will be handed the presidential ticket of the party on a platter. This is as they have voted overwhelmingly in an online poll conducted by this newspaper to show their support for the presidential aspiration of Atiku under the platform of APC.

However, the supposed victory of the former Vice-President at the poll was contradicted by an inherent corroborative measure which comes with the DAILY POST poll. This refers to the alternative means of voting that allows respondents to also vote through their comments in a bid to produce a foolproof result. In this regard, Buhari routed Atiku as well as the other aspirants by attracting endorsements from an outstanding majority of all who made valid comments. The former Head of State’s impressive showing in this part of the poll confirms the generally-held belief that he enjoys a cult followership. For his supporters went beyond merely voting in support of him into sealing it with their comments.

Atiku leads APC poll with wide margin
DAILYPOST Poll: Buhari demystified as Atiku floors ‘the People’s General’ By Sylvester Ugwuanyi on December 5, 2014 If DAILY POST readers were to be delegates that will populate the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress, APC slated for December 10 and 11, 2014, former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, will be handed the presidential ticket of the party on a platter. What informed the question for this poll? APC presidential aspirants have been traversing virtually all parts of the country wooing the party’s delegates for votes. At every turn, they are seen and heard telling all who cared to listen how they are the most qualified for the job, albeit, admitting that every one of them is better than the presumed candidate of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), President Goodluck Jonathan. Other APC stalwarts have also refused to be silent on this. Some of them even go as far as predicting that another four years of President Jonathan in office will be disastrous for the nation. This postulations coupled with the fact that the epic APC primaries is already lurking led DAILY POST to ask its readers who they think is the best aspirant APC should present in next year’s presidential election as its candidate. The options were as follow: Sam Nda-Isaiah, Mohammadu Buhari, Rochas Okorocha, Atiku Abubarkar and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. How they fared: This particular poll which came on stream on Monday, December 1 was closed by 12 pm (local time) on Friday, December 5, 2014. Between the time frame, there were a total of 5,367 clicks on the options that answer the questions asked. Out of these clicks, 3,013 (56.14 per cent) were in favour of Atiku Abubarkar; 1,900 (35. 04 per cent) went for Mohammadu Buhari; 232 (4.32 per cent) favoured Rochas Okorocha; 147 (2.74 per cent) were recorded to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso while Sam Nda-Isaiah brought up the rare with 75 votes constituting 1.04 per cent. For the comments generated by the poll, a total of 438 raked in. They were collated from the poll’s portal which had 12, DAILY POST website had 101 and the newspaper’s Facebook page where 325 respondents posted their comments as at when the poll was closed. The gross figure of 438 ultimately thinned to 372 valid comments when scrutinized. From these reliable comments, 234 constituting 62.90 per cent clamoured for Buhari to be given the APC presidential ticket, 35 others (9.41 per cent) rooted for Atiku. Those who sought for it to be given to Rochas were 30 (8.06 per cent), Kwankwaso’s supporters on this numbered 15 (4.03 per cent) while seven people consisting 1.88 per cent would rather want Nda-Isaiah to get the ticket. Meanwhile, some respondents took advantage of the freedom afforded them by the comment box to unequivocally state that they do not see any good presidential material from the lot. Those with this conviction, whose position got accommodated in the survey were 50 in number and they constituted 13.44 per cent of valid respondents. Some cogent reactions worthy of note: Out of the total 438 comments generated, there were vital postulations made by some readers which cannot be overlooked. There were some others who arrogated unto themselves the status of king makers as they instructed APC and party faithful who should be paired with their preferred presidential aspirants. These comments are hereby presented below, just the way the bloggers wrote them. This newspaper intentionally refused to edit the comments in anyway whatsoever just for you to relish the raw passion of the writers… Abucheadams Atiku’s vision and dedication distinguish him from the other aspirants; he has worked very hard to prove he understands the way forward for this country. He is the best candidate to fly the presidential flag of the APC. #ANigeriaForAll I think Atiku is the best man due to the fact he is the most experienced and has more knowledge in workings of democracy@the highest levels having held the number 2 post for 8 years. Babajide Balogun Atiku is the only candidate who has what it takes to defeat PDP. GMB has made certain religious and ethnic inflammatory statements in the past that will make majority of Nigerians not comfortable with him during the general elections. He is also not entirely free of corruption.

FAKE PDP saTANist Bloggers trying to plant confusion and commotion. PDP are afraid of Peace, Unity and the consistences of APC in giving Nigerians the Fist to knock-out the Stealing-Is-Not-Corruption administration of Jonathan.

Change is here to stay.

Trully!
Atiku has more support among the politically less active man on the street than Buhari.

Buhari is just too hard to sell to the undecided and politically indifferent, a lot of which we have here in my Edo.
I speak from experience as a mobiliser in my own little way.

It's important we prepare for the inevitable and include Atiku in our political plans while we still can.
