Tizen phone launch fails to happen; disappointed Tizen fans will just have to wait some more.

not be accused of disappointing you."-

Reports from India have made it clear that
there was no launch of the Samsung Z1 on
Wednesday, Dec. 10. We had earlier published
a report of an imminent launch of the first
Tizen phone . However, this launch never took
place. Indeed, we made frantic efforts before
and on December 10 to get information about
the launch , but those efforts were futile. The
best response we got from many of our
sources was “we don’t know”. However, we
now have the full details of what happened-
and didn’t happen- two days ago.

Really, the finest detail you need to hear about
this episode is this: there was no launch of
any phone by Samsung on Wednesday, let
alone a Tizen phone.

One denial, many proofs
On Thursday, Samsung was reported as saying
that there wasn’t a launch because they never
officially said that there would be a launch.
“We also didn’t even send out invitations for
the event. So we have disappointed no one.”
Indeed, it’s true that the South Korea-based
tech giant never made any official
announcement about a launch. However,
Tarun Malik, the head of Samsung’s Media
Solutions Center in Southwest Asia, told the
Economic Times of India in an interview in
September that a Tizen phone was to be
expected after October. But Samsung neither
said nor did anything to contradict his words
back then. Secondly, the Wall Street Journal
quoted a source from one of the companies in
the Tizen Association as having confirmed Mr
Malik’s words. The source said that they (at
their company) were also getting word about
an imminent Tizen phone launch. To cap it all,
Tizen Experts published shipping manifests
that showed that Samsung had imported
about 1.7 million dollars’ worth of phone
parts. These parts were consistent with the
specs of Samsung Z1 that everyone had heard
of. Here are the manifests:

Samsung was building a Tizen phone.

All of the above is now history. The present
situation is that many people are
disappointed. Many people indeed. And yes,
Tiznar is disappointed too. We already have
Tizen on smartwatches and smartcameras, but
how long do we have to wait for a
smartphone? Reports indicate that Samsung
will still launch the phone this year- but will
they? Honestly, we don’t know. But you need
to read tomorrow’s editorial piece for our fine
analysis and opinion on this matter. You, our
esteemed reader, also need to follow us on
Twitter or like us on Facebook so as to be kept
up to beat with the latest news about Tizen,
its yet-to-be-released phones and other
devices. Stay tuned!
