Use garri to remove the slimy stuff. It works like magic. One or two hand full of dry garri (unprepared) would do the trick. Just pour it on the snails, work it up with your hand until they are cleansed. Then, remove the snail and wash with ordinary water.

The advantage is that it taste better unlike using lime, lemon or alum that would retain some smell and taste.

This is how to place a snail in preparation for chopping off just the tip.
