If you want to really study or research nollywood, go straight to its root, the Igbo people, their culture, their cosmology, and other gifted attributes like physical appearance and attraction (mostly their women and their liberal ways ), their accent as it convey what ever message they are trying to send to the rest of the world, their diaspora within Nigeria, Africa, USA, Europe and Asia(China) which is the most vital component in spreading nollywood to the 4 corners of this Earth. Don't forget their buying and selling ingenuity and doggedly which played and continue to play a major part. Don't forget the decades of marginalisation and under development of their region that forced them into the 4 corners of this Earth in the first place. A different focus of study of Nollywood that doesn't follow this historical realities and then use it in a way to integrate Igbos properly into the Nation's political, cultural and economic main stream will be a wasted venture and resources. The history of Nollywood is the history of Igbo people and their art and culture, and if you doubt me, then study deep enough the reasons for universal acceptance of Chinua Achebe's book Things Fall Apart ( in over fifty languages), Chimamada Ngozi Adichie and etc. That same universal appeal is what propelled Nollywood to its enviable height. *note* we Igbos like to bust a lot oooo..
