People often mistake Arabic culture, symbols, or inscription e.t.c for Islamic teaching or assume it's meant for Islamic purpose(s). Wrong. Most of the Arabic inscription on our Nationalistic symbol is there because of the Muslims who understand Arabic but aren't good enough in English. So the idea of protesting the inclusion of this inscriptions is out of order.

The move to islamize Nigeria had been in the process of implementation for a very long time now. It's a covert operation done first on National Symbols and the Nigerian Constitution. Not many will know that the process actually began before Nigeria became an independent country.

They protested because of an earlier protest which led to the non-inclusion of Arabic inscription on the new 100 naira note. So you see the protest isn't misplaced.

For starters, Nigeria has no business writing religious inscriptions on National Symbols.
