Ex-militant youths from Delta and Bayelsa State protested on December 18, 2014, over non-payment of November and December allowances by the Federal Government stopping traffic on the busy East-West Road.
Hundreds of youths lined the road and accused the Presidential Amnesty Office and the Ministry of Finance for deviating the promised funds. The angry youths stopped the busy Patani end of East-West Road around 10am, refused to leave the roadway, ignoring pleas by security officials trying to restore order.

It is the second time this week the youths have gone to protest the non-payment of their monthly stipends.

They should equally ask for their own share of the national cake GEJ and his 4 Top wives are eating everyday.

Yar'adua had a lovely policy going for him on how to put an end to militancy and restiveness in the Niger Delta: train the so called militants, they acquire necessary skills, and then engage them to be self reliant. Jonathan came in and made a mess of the whole thing by making Tompolo and Asari demigods. Monies that were meant for their training are now handed to just a handful of the president's cronies from the creeks as they stockpile arms and what not. That contract given Tompolo is absolutely treasonable!!

I'm so damn sure JonaTAN would wind up in jail after he's given the boots in 2015.

We are sitting on a keg of gun powder.

how long are we going to keep throwing money at this problem? these guys don't need handouts; they need jobs.

the contracts given to tompolo (3.6billion), asari (1.8billion), ateke (560million), boyloaf (560million) amounts to almost 7billion every year as we hear. are there no sensible people in government that could have used that sum to set up industries for these able bodied young men to work? only God knows how much is siphoned away in the name of amnesty allowance for these guys. even the oil theft they're supposedly meant to stop with those immoral contracts increased during this period.

then asari receives all that money and decides to set up businesses in Benin republic, where is his professed love for the Niger Delta?

we need a change from this approach

So they want the FG to be paying them for life...without them doing any particular job? undecided

Knew this amnesty stuff was BS from the beginning.

Teach them how to catch fish (make them self reliant) and not teach them how to always eat fish (depend on stipends and what not).

Seriously Nigeria is a complex nation.

I'm just looking at the said East-West Road in the pictures. Doesn't look like a road to me.That's the 'road' Jonathan has been constructing for 6years.It looks like a dirt path through an abandoned country.
