I don't know if the op of the thread below is on a delibrate mission to misinform the public, but he lied when he stated that by 1985, $1 = N1.5 to N1.7 from its earlier position of $1 = N0.724 in 1983. https://www.nairaland.com/2055368/how-stable-naira-under-gen Vanguard reports that the naira was exchanging at N0.658 to the dollar in 1972; N0.658 to the dollar in 1974 and in 1985, a year before SAP, the naira was exchanging at N0.894 to the dollar. In1986 when Nigeria on the advice of economists devalued the naira, it was N2.02 to the dollar. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/naira-redenomination-is-now/ Wikipedia also says the same thing http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_naira And I confirmed it from a copy of the CBN statistical bulletin. Please you guys should stop misinforming the public. Click like for APC/BUHARI, Click share for PDP/JONATHAN. 3 Likes 1 Share |
