. The police in Abuja have arrested a suspected kidnapper, Bola Adesina, who allegedly abducted a five-year-old boy from the Sagamu area of Ogun State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that 31-year-old Adesina was arrested by detectives attached to the Utako Police Division on Christmas Eve of 2014.

It was also learnt that the victim, identified simply as Ahmed, had been missing from home for about a week.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect was nabbed at a motor park in the Utako area, while the victim was rescued from him.

Adesina was reportedly heading for a location in Kaduna State to deliver the victim before he was arrested by the police at the park.

The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, said Ahmed had been reunited with his family in Ogun State.

He said, “The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as sitting resumes. Meanwhile, the child has been reunited with his parents.

“In the last three months, some of the FCT Command’s activities include the arrest of six armed robbery suspects, eight suspected motorcycle snatchers, and 24 other suspects for other offences.

“Seventeen vehicles were also recovered in December, while 14 have been released to their owners.”

Also, on Friday, December 26, the police said they intercepted some suspected robbers in the Mabushi area of the FCT, recovering phones, handbags and money from them.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects ─ Clement Markus, Abu Muhammed, Tijani Musa, Shagari Ibrahim, Usama Umaru, Umar Abubakar, Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Haruna and Sadig Idris ─ were apprehended by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad patrol team.

They were arrested at about 5.30pm. The police accused them of lurking under the bridge to attack innocent motorists and passengers.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspects, who had also confessed to the crime, were in custody.

I have always maintained that the Nigerian police are always eager for public show off over tangible gains. If the man was heading to Kaduna to deliver the victim, it means there was an intending buyer. why didn't the Nigerian police make him take them to those people buying the kidnapped victims? That way the police would have been able to arrest those who are really behind this. This guy is most likely just one of many suppliers of kidnapped victims and now that he has been arrested, there are many kidnappers who are still out there supplying the buyers. The police should have seized this opportunity to get the actual buyers and put an end to their kidnapping ring rather than rushing to parade the kidnapper alone. The rate and speed at which the police rush to parade suspects is simply baffling.

See his face. Heartless Murrafocker. angry A tall able bodied man like this cannot find good work to do, only kidnapping other people's children. That was how he would have thrown the boy's parents into mourning in the Christmas season. Some people just specialize in cutting short the joy of others. Honestly Kidnapping should be made a capital offence in Nigeria.

Like this comment I clicked like on above. The police should always try to get to the root of the matter rather than showing off a suspect quickly just to get attention of the general public. Arrest their godfathers too

When it comes to kidnapping, Yorubas are only second to boko haram.

They sell human heads, sell huch backs, kill and rob on the highways, and even rape children just for money.
Very bad.
