d diff BTW dssc and ssc. many. have been asking this question 4 a long time. I was keen to know too, then I asked a cousin who is an officer of NA. then he. explained. d major diff is dat DSSC are professionals and SSC are combatants. YES! as SSC, u are a fighter. u get to be deployed to combat units like Infantry, Artillery, Armoured, Ordinance etc. but DSSC gets to become any of Engineering corp, medical corp, education Corp etc depending on ur discipline. its true SSC is commissioned as a 1star LT while DSSC get 2star. but SSC will be promoted to 2star two yrs after. after which promotion will take nothing less than 4 yrs. also a DSSC can not go beyond d rank of 1star general, while SSC can reach d very culmination..( the likes of Gen ishaya rizi bamaizi 3star Gen). SSC and NDA grads are d combatant officers. as DSSC all u do in d army is practice ur profession like u would as a civilian. salary is same except 4 doctors

Wonderful elaboration bro... I sure am now informed about my choice of application for NA... As a Natural fighter, it's SSC... Can't see myself behind a desk pushing papers wen i can be in d field sending some bloody bastards 2 hell.

He is good with the explanation however upon enlistment one would realize it is not a smooth sail or as straight forward as he put it, as expected & unexpected challenges pop up. In some cases a SSC officer may not get to where a DSSC officer would, despite the opportunity for SSC officers to go far, nothing is certain.

Thanks Mimzy007! U made a salient point, however it doesn't mean dt we shouldn't endeavour 2 realise our dreams just coz we r afraid of d unknown.
U n I know dt d possibility of 1 getting in2 NA tru DSS is on d lowest low compared 2 SSC, so 1 should make a wise gamble. I believe dt wateva d reallife situation may be 4 a SSC officer, I can handle it.

Yeah I know what u said. Since the inception of dssc, dssc and SSC has always been a package deal whenever the forms come on sale.

What I guess "he" meant to tell you is that you are trained/meant for combatant operations as an SSC officer while DSSC officers are trained/meant for Professional or desk jobs!! SSC are trained for 9months - 1yr while Dssc are trained for 6 -7months.

Also there is no such thing as a 1star LTT! Its called 2nd lieutenant I.e. One star or Lieutenant I.e Two Star !! Also there are peculiarities that can exist within individual armed forces that you will have to find out for yourself that you will never hear till you get there (and you probably won't tell folks about who seek to know after you get there)

Oga ehissi, welcome back. I have always enjoyed your opinions on previous army dssc/ssc threads. I hope this would be my last dssc/ssc thread as a civilian.
