Reacting to the controversy surrounding Buhari's Certificate, the PDP said it was not interested in the academic qualifications of Buhari, who, it said, would be questioned at the appropriate time.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, told the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, on Sunday, that it was not the business of the ruling party to dabble into the internal affairs of the opposition, moreso as the matter was before the court of public opinion.

“We do not require them to have a certificate. They can even field somebody who has never gone to school. It’s not our business, it’s the business of INEC. At the appropriate time, he will be questioned, but for purposes of politics, we do not want to start making comments on such,” he said.

He recalled that the national secretary of the party, Professor Wale Oladipo, had questioned Buhari’s ability to understand indices on account of his low academic qualifications, referring to the former head of state as “a semi-illiterate jackboot.”

On APC’s criticism of the appointment of former Aviation minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode as a director in the national campaign council of President Goodluck Jonathan, the PDP spokesman maintained that it was not the business of the opposition to determine who gets appointment in PDP.

Metuh rubbished APC’s claim that the appointment was an indication that Jonathan was condoning corruption, saying that Fani-Kayode had not been found guilty of corruption by any court of competent jurisdiction.

Metuh pointed out that if the APC was accusing Jonathan of hugging corruption for appointing Fani-Kayode, then the party’s national leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, should have nothing to do with the APC, because he had similarly been accused of corruption and charged before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

“Fani-Kayode has been a minister, he has shown his capacity. Has he been found guilty of any corruption? He was charged, discharged and acquitted in a court of law. So, what does it mean?

“In that case, Tinubu should not appear in their campaign or should not be leader of their campaign, because he was charged before by ICPC as well,” he said.
