The presidential ticket of the All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate and his running mate,  Mohammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo respectively got a boost as a group of lawyers yesterday vowed to ensure the team win the February election.

The team under the aegis of ” Lawyers for Change (“Lawyers4Change), said their decision was based on their believe that the duo of Buhari and Osinbajo got what it takes to rule the country and deliver it out of the present conundrum.

At the inauguration of the group in Ikeja, Lagos yesterday, the National Coordinator of the group, Adesina Ogunlana said the team “represents the best option now for the salvation of our country from the misrule of incompetent and selfish leaders.”

Ogunlana, a former first Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja Branch, said their policy and decision devoid of religion, ethnic or political leaning, but “urgent means to rescue Nigeria from her myriad of economic and political problems.”

He declared: “Our nation’s problems are gigantic. Let’s put round pegs in round holes. Let’s put our best foot forward. Don’t let us bury our talents and consign our gifted ones to the background”, he said.

“Our group is highly interested in and committed to the betterment of the country which we believe is bedevilled by many self-inflicted injuries as a result of which her prosperity, development and stability are badly compromised.

“That is why we identify and support credible participants in the political process, irrespective of ethnic, religious or party affiliation, who can lift our country out of her myriad of socio-economic and political problems and move her forward”.

Speaking especially on Osinbajo candidacy as the Vice Presidential running mate, they argued that they know immediately they have a big task before them.

“That is why we have come together in Lawyers4Change to let the people know that Yemi Osinbajo is not just any other presidential candidate.

“We want Nigerians to know that the distinguished professor of Law and learned Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN) whom the APC has paired with Buhari for 2015 presidential elections is an exceptionally gifted, surpassingly decent and a very progressive-minded individual”.

Ogunlana pointed out that the immediate task of the group is to persuade and convince the Nigerian society to see the reasons why they should support and vote for the Muhammadu Buhari/Yemi Osinbajo ticket in next month’s general election.

He said “Prof. Osinbajo’s versatility, depth of knowledge, patriotic zeal and youthful vigour compliment the ripened maturity and profound integrity of Muhammadu Buhari, ensuring therefore that the presidency has been entrusted to two capable, highly functional and compatible leaders”.

He said his legal background and serious commitment to the preservation and upliftment of human rights, guarantee adherence to and promotion of the rule of law in the country.

I heard from someone today that the election will be rigged by PDP, and they already hav all the mechanism to do that in place. This person bet with everything he has. But still, we won't be intimidated. We will cast our vote and stand by it.
