Do you think that the noun pgd courses would be successful?

macuwon:
Please i have a few questions, am currently having hnd in mass communication, am hoping i can do a straight masters, but if not .
1. Can i do pgd in ICT
2. Am rounding off nysc by july, so when should i apply?
3. What is the minimum duration for pgd
4. Can I use the pgd from noun to run an msc in another school?

Please respond, and any tips and advice would be appreciated
cc bornsad

Good day,

Sorry for the late response. As you know, it's exam period for us.

No you can't get direct Masters in IT from HND in Mass Com.

1) Yes, you can do PGD in IT
2) New set starts registration in June/July. It lasts for long but the earlier, the better.
3) The minimum is 12mnths. I trust you know it's flexible.
4) Yes, of course.

Advice: Go for it as soon as you finish your service. And be careful not to get misinformed, that's the main issue most people faced.

Regards.

I've seen those that did those. Yes, it surely would be a success.

Please, I want to do MSC info tech... Am a graduate of Biochemistry, 2:2, I have CompTIA A+ certification and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist.

1. Can I get a direct admission without PGD?
2. How much is the total fee for MSC info tech?
3. I understand that I can apply anytime but when am I likely to start if I apply now.
4. What's the course duration.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Good morning,

Nice set of certifications, I must say.

1) No, you must do PGD. Certifications are not really considered in awarding degrees.
2) The total fee is dependent on many things as I have explained severally on this thread already. The number of courses you take, their credit loads and then the basic fee per semester. It may not always be the same for everybody.
3) NOUN has two sets each year. The January and July sets. If you apply now, you'd start your first semester in July.
4) It has a minimum duration of two semesters (a year) and maybe a couple of months for thesis. Note that this is flexible enough to accommodate your plans in case you can't take all the courses within the two semesters. (Though this will incur extra basic fee).

Regards.

Thanks for getting back. I do appreciate your prompt response. Please can you give me a rough estimate of how much you have already paid for the MSC Info tech... It will go a long way to guide me because I am low on cash and won't want to start something that I cannot complete immediately

First semester has taken about 75k already..... (can't recall the exact amount until I check). Second semester will not be as much since it has less number of courses.

Well done guys, great job!

I'd like to know if one can get references from lecturers when applying for post graduate programs abroad having completed a PGD in NOUN.

This, just like any other place, is matter of your relationship with the "lecturer".

BornSad:

Your question is ambiguous, dear.
You said you haven't yet gone for service and then you're asking if they will take you without transcript. I don't understand how your academic transcript relates to NYSC.
NYSC gives NYSC certificate, schools give academic transcript. These two are independent of each other so which are asking if they'll take you without?
Whichever, yeah, you can start registration without both. But transcript will be required later.
Regards.

Hello,

Firstly, some courses are not called exactly the same in different schools. While some say Computer Science, some may say Computer and Informaton Sciences. Where some say European Studies, others may say Modern European Languages etc. In many cases, the course contents remain exactly the same while in some cases, they would be slight differences in what is taught and what is left out but the end goal remains the same. However, in the outside world/labour industry, such courses are all regarded as the same field. I strongly beleive the two courses you mentioned are fairly the same but I am not an authority in the field so you may need to contact someone doing the course for further clarifications. You can also get the course content of the one offered by NOUN online and present to someone studying BusAdmin elsewhere to help you compare.

No centre is better than the other. Choose the one nearest to you. It is not as if you go there everyday.

Once you have paid for your form, the next is to pay your school fees (which include the basic fee + course registration/material fees + Exam fees), that will be all. The amount you pay as school fees is determined by the number of courses you are taking. Go to your study centre for this. No mistakes.

There is a semester time table and of recent, the school really tries its best to stick to it. Grab a copy an know when your matric will be.

Warm Regards.

NOUN as a whole is a school. The different centers are not independent. In other words, the school offers MA in English language and that's it. It is not a matter of centers. Just pick a preferred center.

With regards to your first question, I suggest you contact your study center for more concrete information. I can't possibly know the requirement for every field of study. wink

As for registration, this is done twice a year and that of the second half (July Set) is currently on. So you can register now and start off immediately or register in January and start off then. The choice is yours.
