The Executive Dean, College of Criminal Justice and Security at the University of Phoenix, Major Gen. James ‘Spider’ Marks, has said that the growing insecurity and pogrom in the North-eastern part of Nigeria is not a priority to the United States of America.

Marks, who retired after 30 years of service in the US Army, said this in an interview on CNN, which has since gone viral.

Responding to questions on why over 40 world leaders including about four million people took to the streets in France when 17 people were killed by terrorists recently, whereas during the same period, over 2,000 people were allegedly massacred in Baga, Borno State without any global outcry, the ex-military general maintained that Nigeria and the entire black Africa was not a priority for the US.

He explained: “The stack difference is that while world leaders are in complete solidarity and outrage against what happened in France vis-à-vis Nigeria. Truly, that should be surprising because what is happening in Nigeria is real madness, but it is not a priority.

“The United States can do anything it needs to do to rid Nigeria of Boko Haram, it could be a long-term effort, but it can be done. The US has the capability, we have all the elements and power, but it is not a priority.”

Continuing, he said: “This is the problem, we are committed elsewhere in the world, but black or Western Africa is not the priority. That is the case right now and it may be hard to say. Boko Haram is a regional issue.

“But if it appears in some other regions of the world, like white Africa, which is North Africa, or in the Middle East or somewhere else, we would be alarmed. But it is a regional issue.”

About 2,000 people were said to have been killed in Baga. However, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) last week put the figure of those massacred at 150, while satellite images released by Amnesty International showed the large-scale destruction in the area.

That sums it up. At least,Nigerians know who their friends and true allies are. Those who are putting so much trust and faith in the US to help Nigeria in this war, should smack themselves back to reality. The solution to boko haram must be found in Nigeria cos no serious help would come from the west.

Who told you America has friends? Except ISRAEL.. America has no friends.
America only help those they would gain something from.
Remember Ghadafi..ghadafi was a good leader who developed Libya but he didnt allow AMERICA to control their OIL This vexd america xo when the Libyans revolted,America now started supporting the rebels nt bkos they love them but bkos of Libya's oil.
America wants to take total control of Nigeria's Oil.. But we dnt agree (and we must never agree) b4 they can help...

But as I said.. boko haram is more than what we are thinking, it would be interesting when later we get to see things.. Ppu shud see that if its Buhari dat is supporting b'haram..then why is GEJ,GCFR duin nothing? Why? IBB was connected yet ntn was done..
So??
I pity gullible nigerians...No POLITICIAN can be Trusted.

So America must come and do everything for you?

You Nigerians....instead of being ashamed that you do not have the industrial capability to manufacture weaponry, and the army with the means to develop tactics against a terrorist force....you beg America for help...and when the US says no....you grumble about the CIA plots against Nigeria...and how they are coming for all Africans.

Hey....call me names all day long....but why don't you Nigerians stop complaining about what America is doing and not doing...and instead ask your govt at all levels why they are not working harder for you. Is Obama your president?

That's how some Kenyans were rejoicing when Obama became president in 2008....he will repair their roads. Abi na American presido wey go repair Kenyan roads? Abi Na American president wey go train our Army? Abi na American presido wey go sort out our bad economy, our poverty, etc? Or don't we have brains?

You Nigerians....na oil money wey una wan chop....hard work is foreign to you!

Word..

Boko Haram is indeed not a US Problem, its a regional Problem. They dont carry the same capacity like ISIS and Al-Queda. Boko Haram does not have the capacity to lauch nor sponsor attacks on Western Soil and thus cant be considered a High Priority security problem by the West. Plus ever since the U.S's experience in Mogadishu when they tried to capture and extract Mohammad Farah Aidid in which they took heavy personnel and equipment losses, they have not really participated much in African issues.

Basically, they expect the Nigerian Government and ECOWAS to be able to bring the matter under control without Western Intervention and I agree.

Why should the US or the West come and stop Boko Haram when our own Government does not consider them a serious enough issue to deal with.

Must we always be at their mercy? Come to think of it, are we doing well like Libya, Iraq, North Korea and other countries they had to subjugate? U.S doesn't show interest for no reason, they only show intetest when your success becomes a threat to their dictatorship.

Jonathan inherited 774 LGA, today he has ceded 30 to General Shakau of Boko-haram. Jonathan inherited 23 PDP Governors but he ceded 5 to opposition APC. Jonathan inherited 4000 megawatts of electricity but we are now left with 2500 megawatts with obnoxious tariff from PHCN. Jonathan inherited 2.4 million barrel quota from OPEC but he ceded 1 million barrels to smugglers. Jonathan inherited a naira value of 155 to dollar but naira is now traded at 185. Jonathan inherited 30% unemployment but he has doubled it to 55%. Jonathan inherited positive AAA rating bond but JPMORGAN has rated our bond negative. Jonathan inherited a surviving stock market but he killed the stock market. Jonathan inherited 10% duty on tokumbo cars but he increased it to 70%. Jonathan inherited chibokgirls but he lost them to Shakau. Jonathan inherited a rag tag boko Haram he is leaving behind a sophisticated and daring BH. Jonathan inherited a booming economy but doom is what he is about to handover. To worse it off, Jonathan is promoting STEALING against our moral and societal upbringing. What then is safe under Jonathan? ?? Absolutely Nothing! !! Dear Jonathan, I can't afford more losses! !! Enough is enough! !! Changiiiiiii! !!! Changiiiiiii! !! Changiiiiiii! !!! The US say it is a regional (West African) problem, some of us in Nigeria also say it is a regional (northern) problem, so no cause for alarm.
The north should clean their shît.

The solution is here. Vote Buhari to end Bokoharam. We won't have to be smuggling cash on private jet into a sovereign country to purchase arms and ammunition.
