I can't believe our constitution does not require an intending president of this great country to have at least a first degree from university to lead this country.

How can WAEC be the minimal qualification?

It makes no sense. This is a $510 billion economy. The biggest black-run economy on the entire planet. How and why should it be managed by a person with only WAEC secondary school qualification?

At secondary level, you have not developed the modern analytical skills, the modern problem-solving skills, or attained sufficient intellectual expansion, nor even developed adequate levels of moral rectitude, certitude and character consolidation required for the leadership of Africa's greatest nation.

We need to take another look at that constitutional provision.

True
The military handed dat constitution to us because dey know dat most of dem don't have first degree.
Now some one whose WAEC certificate is not only questionable but d one he presented show he had F9 in maths wants to be our president . Nawaa oo. Nigerians and mediocrity!

OP, because you are opportuned to get admission into a University, right?

So people who have OND's and HND's as well are not qualified to rule Nigeria?
That's what you're trying to say, right?

Do you realise that our universities are not enough to admit all WAEC candidates and even all successful JAMB candidates?

So if someone decides to forego higher education, maybe because of the stress involved in getting admission into a university in Nigeria, he will be barred from trying to contest for an elective position?

WAEC was made the minimum requirement because, with the Universal Basic Education, at least everybody can receive a secondary education whether or not the parents are wealthy.

Lack of common sense worries most Nigerians.

Yes. You need to hold at least a university degree to lead a country like Nigeria in this day and age.

Do you realise that our universities are not enough to admit all WAEC candidates and even all successful JAMB candidates?

Must you be president? If you lack the minimal qualifications, there are other jobs. In order to be a lawyer or a doctor you need a degree. Why should less be required to be President of Nigeria? WAEC for that matter?? It's ludicrous.

So if someone decides to forego higher education, maybe because of the stress involved, he will be barred from trying to contest for an elective position?

If you can't handle the stress of higher education, how can you handle the stress of leading the world's greatest black nation?

Maybe the voting criteria should be at the same level.
If I am not eligible to be voted for cos of some over-emphasised academic exercise then I shouldn't be allowed to vote either - following your logic - The fate of the biggest black economy Shouldn't be put in the hands of voters who do not have first degree

There's no point discriminating against majority of the populace- it's probable majority of those who are going to vote do not have primary school cert.

You are a very good example of those Nigerians you are talking about.
