Police Release Arrested Ekiti Student Leaders by ABDamola(m): 10:42pm On Jan 28, 2015
The Ekiti State Police Command has released officials of the National Association of Nigerian Students that criticised President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally held last Saturday in Ado-Ekiti.

The student leaders were said to have been released on Tuesday on bail after spending three days in detention.
They are the  National Vice-President, External, NANS, Tosin Ogunkuade; a former Chairman, NANS Joint Campus Committee, Ekiti State, Oluwadamilare Bewaji, and Idowu Odebunmi.

The APC had maintained that Ogunkuade was arrested on the order of Governor Ayodele Fayose for addressing the crowd at the presidential rally.
A statement by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, had said Ogunkuade’s offence was that he highlighted the challenges facing Nigerian students, saying the present efforts by the government were not capable of redressing the hardships faced by the students in accessing quality education.
But Fayose had indicated that those arrested were APC thugs caught with dangerous weapons and recruited by an APC member in the House of Representatives to terrorise supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Erijiyan and Ikogosi-Ekiti.
The Youth Wing of the APC on Wednesday condemned the detention of the students, which it said violated their fundamental human rights.
The Commissioner of Police,Taiwo Lakanu, confirmed their release on Wednesday to our correspondent on the telephone.

He added that they were released on bail.
